Re: Sunglasses

Rayban Wayfarers from about 12 years ago.

Oakley Jackets 5 years old.

Oakley wiskers Titanium frames and polarised lenes, bought in Austrailia last year.

The Raybans have the best lenses, you just can't beat real glass.

They've got a 'B' on each arm.

Well my Timberlands are an Italian Frame

However, Ray-Ban are now part of the Luxottica Group, who appear to own a number of brands of eyewear including Persol, the full list being

Anne Klein
Arnette
Brook Brothers
Bvlgari
Burberry
Chanel
D&G
Dolce&Gabbana
Donna Karan
DKNY
Killer Loop
Luxottica
Miu Miu
Persol
Prada
Ray-Ban
Revo
Salvatore Ferragamo
Sergio Tacchini
Sferoflex
Versace
Verus
Vogue

I actually believe Luxottica is primarily an Italian company

Re: Sunglasses

Ray Ban is indeed in Italian hands, but when I hear Ray Ban I think about American sunglasses, not Italian. (nothing wrong with Ray Ban though)

You're right - I think of them as American and I'm sure most people, including most Americans, also do

Re: Sunglasses

Oakley mostly for the great protection but recently got a pair of Raybans. Cool but not so good for stopping you squint !

I don't know about that. After being hit in the sunglasses by a cricket ball when a mate bowled me a beamer in the nets, I'm quite pleased that the lenses are plastic!

For 'Sport' then polycarbonate is obviously a lot safer and its also a lot lighter. But glass is a lot more scratch resistant; I believe is optically superior (although I think Oakley may run it close) and IMHO does have a 'quality feel' about it.

For everyday use I prefer glass lenses but for playing sport would wear plastic
