Expectations indeed. Those that I saw was that when you have kids, it's considered okay to go home at 5pm practically no matter what. But if you're single or living alone not married yet like I was... no excuse! You owe overtime, you've got nothing else to do with your life!!! I'm kidding, but barely.

Only paid for 50hrs a week. a normal week would be about 47hrs. I drive an hgv for wincanton night shift.

defo work to live, but i can't complain i only work 3 12hour shifts a week, that gives me 4 days to do whatever i want

To you guys/gals that do 50+ hours a week, I hope you don't have far to travel! I do a 40hr week 9:00-18:00. Add about an hour travel each way to that (or 2hr if at our other site) and that is unpleasant enough!!

Did have the great one yesterday of sending someone on a guilt trip, when at 19:00 he decides to ask me what time I finish. He apologiesed for keeping me when I told him 18:00.

@ Glenda, I know where you are coming from and hope you are doing well now. My last job went really bad and more and more came our way and we (me and one other) were expected to do so much more, resulting in ridiculously long days. We both just gave up and handed our notice in, to which the boss asked it was a cry for help. I took great pleasure in telling him we had been asking for help for 3 months and now enough was enough, I don't think he realised we were totally serious until the last day when I walked out the door with a huge smile on my face despite being unemployed.

I had a meeting at work yesterday and I'm going in a day next week for a few hours to pick up my e-mails and tidy my desk ready for the new year.

I'm on part time hours in the new year to begin with and my role is being re-jigged with a clearer role profile. I reckon its a real result and I'm grateful that the company provides a really good process to help people back to work with good support.
