Re: Heart Versus Head
Get the V6, once you drive (and hear) one, you won't want anything else.
Do however prepare yourself for financial misery.

Re: Heart Versus Head
Further to my recent post
Do remember the V6 is a more robust engine than the 2.0L so there'll be some saving in maintenance to set against the additional fuel costs.
Oh aye, and you'll be able to cut back on the Stella consumption 'cos you'll be oot in the "Busso"

What about the 156 V6 that Chris has put up on the 4 Sale lounge - although its an S plate its only done 37k miles?

Re: Heart Versus Head
Go with the V6 assuming you can live with the costs/practicalities issues. You may never get another chance either for personal reasons or because anything like it may be forbidden by bureaucrats in future. Do it!
You could always sell it after a while and go back to normality and the depreciation wouldn't necessarily have cost a fortune if you buy right.

Re: Heart Versus Head
I thinking about maybe spending about £5000 on a 2000 model and keeping it a year.

What he said.
These cars are a bargain. Any faults/blemishes can be attended to over a long period. Any time you feel under pressure to sell it just open the bonnet, the sun will shine and your troubles melt away.

Re: Heart Versus Head
don't drive the V6... it has a way of loosening purse strings or enabling you to sign anything put in front of you
hmmm, very true, I went into the dealership to buy a diesel 147, & came out with the GTA!

Is that all they cost now? For a tidy one? If so, it's a virtual no-brainer for at least a year.
