Do you like Fiats?
Apart from Alfa's do you like Fiats?
This is following a comment on another thread where it was said "What is the difference between an Alfa fitted with Fiat crap and an Alfa fitted with GM crap". (Referring to the 159 and Brera with the GM engine).
Please state below your opinions also.
As far as I am aware many Alfa fans also love Fiats, but few like GM cars...
The Crap bit it just a figure of speech BTW it is not meant to say they arecrap

Re: Do you like Fiats?
It's hard to give a straight answer.I love the Coupe, off course. Some of the older, rare models are pretty hot as well, but for the current range there's not much to be said.Except maybe the GP.
In fairness now,I used to have a '95 Punto.Believe ye me,I put intergalactic mileage on that car, worked two jobs with it(one of them was in construction,a good part of the commute was done on country roads) and nothing ever broke on the car,I only changed (when badly needed) the oil/filters/cambelt/bushings/brake pads/etc.In fact, the car was so good that i didn't want to sell it,I passed it on to my younger brother.
But I still can't bring myself to say that I love Fiats.

Re: Do you like Fiats?
Yes I do, having owned an Uno myself
They depreciate worse than Alfas....for the same money I paid for my '03 registered 156 V6 I could have had an '05 registered Stilo Abarth with half the mileage

Re: Do you like Fiats?
I have loved many of them, a Panda Tacchini special edition was our first new car, changed after 1 year for a new Tipo, then another Tipo, then 2 Bravas and a Stilo before the 147. My wife has a Bravo which she loves. All of them have had style and character and I thought they looked much better than their conteporaries. Had to admit that the rear of the 5 door Stilo was pig ugly though. Had the usual undocumented Fiat features with some of them, but as they were all fixed under warranty, there was no problem really.

Re: Do you like Fiats?
1st car was my mom's Uno - , second car was a Punto - . I love Fiats. In any case, I always thought Fiats were there to ween us Brits off crap and onto Italian cars - a sort of Alfa stepping stone.

Re: Do you like Fiats?
Yes, I owned a Bravo 1.8 GT a few years ago and fitted Momo alloys with 205-45-16 tyres plus Novitec lowering springs... It immediately handled like a supercar (minus the power)

Re: Do you like Fiats?
I've also owned a few Fiats as "run arounds".
Recently bought the GF an 04 plate Punto with Abarth kit etc. It's a good car as it does what it's designed to do....scoot around town

Re: Do you like Fiats?
My Multipla JTD has done 80,000 in six years, first pad replacement at 70,000, averaged 50 mpg, and will be sorry to see it leave us. I have been threatening I would get something with smaller internal capacity,
so that we can't go to Ikea.
I hope the GT will do as well.

Re: Do you like Fiats?
After Alfa they are my Favorite affordable car make, in fact I cannot make up my mind whether my next car will be a turbo Fiat coupe or a 2.5 156... What an awful choice to have to make...

Re: Do you like Fiats?
Nope.
Maybe it's because of what the Fiat dealer imports here. Just low end models...
Palio anyone??

Re: Do you like Fiats?
Nobody was saying they were fitted GM or FIAT "crap", quite the opposite in fact ...and the discussion was not about the merits of the manufacturer cars
Anyway...as for FIATs, the Coupe was stunning in it's day but imho is looking very dated now and certainly hasn't aged as well as a GTV.
The Stilo looked appalling when I first saw it but it has grown on me and the old Puntos were great.....the rest are merely average...imho

Re: Do you like Fiats?
...............with italian mass produced you gotta work from assumptions and then balance them against your own prejudices and as many facts as you can muster...............the 156 seems perfick...but the 166mis looking increasingly hmmm..
when I was lad i aspired to abarth stradas, x1/9s etc..... don't laff
i went to the huge local dealer on the night the metro was launched....to renault on the night the fuego was launched....serously....
i know a bloke who won a Barchetta....sold it and bought an MX5
sigh.....you don't get the chances that ****** offen
