Re: Do you like Fiats?
i keep looking at the new grande punto and thinking what alfanige could get that 1.9 Mjet Diesel to do in a car that weighs as much as a paper bag.
Edit - just checked actually and it weighs more than a 1.6 147, surprising really cos its a smaller car.

Saw a Coupe today - I still think they look very good although personally I prefer the GTV

Re: Do you like Fiats?
Have a coupe, well until the bodyshop release it, then my sister has a coupe. Was joint number 1 on my wish list with a 156 when I got it 4 years ago, the coupe I could afford, the 156 too much. Love the coupes styling, and was only thinking the other day perhaps it should have had an alfa badge on it, but alfa already had the gtv.

Re: Do you like Fiats?
Like some, hate others.
I had an old Panda which was great fun and going back a bit the 127 was a nice car. But my mum had a Bravo which was a dire car. Fat slow and seemed like it was put together with spit!!And what about the Strada & Tipo!!

Re: Do you like Fiats?
I bought a Doblo, 3 1/2 years ago for lugging stuff. In 60k miles, it hasn't missed a beat.
If I hadn't had it, or it had been a bad experience, I wouldn't have bought an Alfa.

Re: Do you like Fiats?
Always been a Fiatista...
Had a 126 Turbo (woohoo!) and a 128 3P Coupe before an Uno-versal Soldier (Formula 45).
That thing was tough as old boots. It did everything from lugging furniture, to going to the tip. I had it 16 years and apart from a pair of rear shocks (!) I only had to buy a fuel pump for it when the old one broke at 85,000 miles. It was so beautifully simple and easy to work on. Points assisted ignition and crap in the carb were the only time it gave me grief. The world's most reliable car may be a Toyota but the last car left running when the world ends will be a Fiat Uno Formula 45.
Bottom line for me is that the better and stronger Fiat is, the better cars Alfa will make too, so I'm a YES.
Probably I'll have one of those new 500s when they come out, so long as there's one with circa 180bhp in the range.

Ghosty, is it a smaller car? I had a look at one in the showroom recently and I was surprised just how big (Grande) it was. Not a criticism you understand, just an observation as cars in general get bigger and bigger all the time.
In fact, just to illustrate the point we have a classic mini and a Renault clio in the "fleet" and the Clio is simply huge next to it!

Re: Do you like Fiats?
I was in a traffic queue next to a "Mini".
It was like a bus, next to my 155!
Don't be fooled by the 18" wheels on modern cars dudes... if they put 15's on them you'd see just how bloated they really have become.

Re: Do you like Fiats?
Fell in love with Fiats in the early 80's when I had a spin in an X/19.
Bought an original, pre-FIRE Panda 4x4 in 1990. After some years in the Fast Ford wilderness, returned to Seicento's inc a honey of a Red Schumacher which I still wish I'd kept. Then had a Stilo 3 door which was good except for the aircon. Then got the 156 which is in a totally different league!
Love Fiats as I do all Italian cars :-)

BMW should be done under the Trades Description Act for calling it a Mini. The only thing i hate more is the new 'Beetle' That is a disgrace, and as for the convertible!!!!

Personally I don't like Fiat. From the exterior they are not very exciting designwise(Expect 1 or 2 models: like the Coupe or the new Punto) and the interior is absolutely dreadful: Why do they bother to use the same horrible blue coth material on the seats from 1 model to the other one.
All the fiat I have tested so far (3 generations of Punto, Bravo/Brava, Stylo, Croma, Multipla) there is no good feeling in the interior. Everything smells cheap from the materials used to the approximate assembly.
Only the engines and the purchase price / cost of running are interesting.
So it is not for me...

Re: Do you like Fiats?
I loved Fiats of the 90's. Bit disappointed with the recent efforts. Loved the bravo HGT, the fiat coupe 20v Turbo, the barchetta, the mk1 punto GT, the mk2 punto (pre facelift). Actually like the look of the grande punto and panda for the mrs. But there are no really fast fiats anymore.
