That's eco-friendly.... lugging a ton of weights and water for shower cubicles half way round the world and back! How much fuel is that going to burn every year?

And while it's a nice idea that 380s will "take the place of 2 planes" in reality it will take the place of 1 plane... probably a 747. Sure, seats may be cheaper (it won't be twice as expensive per seat to run) but in environmental terms we're running a bigger plane, maybe less full, instead of a smaller one.

And sooner of later one of those f**kers is going to come down on a major city somewhere.

I can't help thinking aviation is going the same way as road building did in the 80's... may it bigger = less congestion. The M25 only proved that "if you build it, they will come"... so more cheap seats = more flyers. We'll be incereasing the gross tonnage being lifted around the planet every day.

Dunno about any of you fellas but when I arrive in some airports the queue for baggage and immigration control takes longer than the flight to get there. Dunno how Jo'burg are going to cope when one of those buggers arrives.. SAA and BA schedule their arrivals within 20 minutes most mornings.. the 800 people from the 380 will be queued out onto the runway when the second one arrives. God knows where the luggage will be piled up.

The world is slowly going stark raving mad dudes...

I'm sure there is a good answer for all your questions. Can't help thinking that if your way of reasoning ruled the earth we would all still be stuck pre-wheel era, and living in caves.

On the news a few weeks ago, Boeing still had more orders for planes than AirBus last year.

Re: Airbus A380.....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Airbus won its first customer for the `Flying Palace', the private version of the A380 super jumbo aircraft.
Airbus signed a letter of intent for one plane, which sells for about $300 million, with an unidentified customer based in the Middle East, the report said. The customer is a head of state.
The Flying Palace will cost an additional $150 million for facilities such as two dining areas, a bedroom of more than 50 square meters, game room, lounge, whirlpool tub, and possibly a missile defense system.
Re: Airbus A380.....
The A380 has now made its 1,000th flight for Singapore Airlines, who has 5 in its fleet at the moment.
