Ski or 'Board (poll)
(thread now with the poll!)
Recently returned from Skiing in Austria (great powder)
Of the group, just me and one other Skied, the rest 'boarded. (Thinking about giving a boarding a try....)
Curious to know which Alfisti prefer: Ski or 'boarding?

Re: Ski or 'Board (poll)
Dear Veloc_Gee,
You can add a poll in a thread later, if you forgot it when submiting your initial post...
This can be done via the "Thread Tools" button above the first post...
thank you!

Re: Ski or 'Board (poll)
Never tried 'boarding, but would love to give it a go.
In fact, I would just love to get out on the snow again - I wouldn't even care what it was strapped to my feet (apart from old tennis rackets )
It has been 15 years since I last went skiing.

Re: Ski or 'Board (poll)
I`m anreasonable intermediate skiier but a novice boarder. At the moment I`d say skiing but thats only because I can do more.Boarding is equally addictive when you get it right.

Re: Ski or 'Board (poll)
I'm a boarder. Was in a crap bar listening to a pretty crap band in Val d'Isère over New Year when the band said "all the boarders cheer" – pretty much silence. Then he said "all the skiers cheer" – loud whoops and hollers. They were saying that meant skiers were better etc, I was thinking to myself that says nothing other than skiers like !!!!e music and crappy bars.
I'd like to try skiing, I've never tried it, but it would be depressing to be a complete muppet when you could usually nail a piste. Hopefully going to the Three Valleys in March. Not sure whether I'm going to Courchevel or Meribel. Probably Meribel.

Where did you go in Austria?, went to Lech on the 8th Jan for a week, had five days in a row of glorious sunshine Ah mountains, snow, sunshine & Weiss beer! Damn i want to go back
Glad to see Skiing in the lead, Must admit in Lech there was a distinct lack of boarders around, our instructor reckoned last year they had 25 snow board instructors, this year they only had 12!

Re: Ski or 'Board (poll)
I'm a dedicated boarder, did some skiing in the past, but love the freedom you get with boarding. It's like a drug, you allways want more...
Lived in France a few years ago during a winter season and gave it a second try, now I will most likely never do skiing again.

Bomberlow
went to a little-known place called Kasberg, in Grunau, Upper Austria. A mixture of decent blue & red runs, with a few blacks. Mainly a place for locals & little 'Apres-ski' - indeed the village of Grunau is eerily quiet.....a decent place to go for 3 or 4 days & is cheap (days pass at around 35-40euros).
The last few days had loads of snow. One day they shut the slopes due to high winds & the storms they had the night before. So two of my mates and a guide, 'boards strapped to their backs, walked 5,000 ft up to the top of the mountain Took them over 2.5hrs. Came back down in waist-deep powder & said it was the best run ever! can't really do that with ski's.....

Re: Ski or 'Board (poll)
Hi,
Two weeks ago I was skiing in Austria too. In the south, on the border with Italy, in the centre called Nassfeld. I can only recommend the place. I had great time, it was freezing but no wind and clouds, only sunshine and powder snow.
It looked like 50% of people under 25 was on board. I will stay loyal to my ski, but it looks like in the future skiers will become minority.

Re: Ski or 'Board (poll)
I've done snow bicycle - this means I was the only crazy guy riding a bike outside with the roads coverd in snow. This was in The Netherlands, back in 96.
Does it counts as a Winter Sport?

Re: Ski or 'Board (poll)
Just been told that tons of powder has dropped over Grunau, Austria. I think the rest of the Alps is the same. So anyone thinking of skiing/ boarding at the mo, get yourself over there, now!
