Bats in the Belfry

Not actually got a belfry bit I'm certainly bats.

We had 5 at our last house (they actually nested in the attic!) and seem to have one or two here. Just seen the most amazing acrobatics over the back lawn.

[Springwatch mode]So, are you Bats too!? [/Springwatch mode]

Got a whole roost? in our loft, and they are so quiet we hardly know they are there apart from the mound of dried dessicated insect remains?

Great little creatures to have resident, and saves me buying those insect repellent tabs for that ceramic hot plate when it gets warm and humid?

Got a couple in the barn next to the house, sit and watch them at dusk when they're active

They are so cute and cuddly but you have to be careful though as they can bite your face clean off

We don't have face eating bats in Shropshire - they are killers though...

Bat carrying rabies found in Shropshire - Telegraph

I was amazed at how ow they can fly, only a couple of feet off the lawn and in an enclosed garden!

Don't fancy being in Kurzon's nighty

I reckon ours have emigrated, as we have not seen hide nor hair of them for two seasons now! :

The wife counted 150 taking off one evening two years ago,(she didn't count them all back as they are nocturnal arbeiters ) but since then, zilch appearances?

I love bats and have a great viewing point in our garden at dusk.. sit out every year to watch them come out for the night.. my middle daughter is scared of butterflies but sat with me a few weeks back.. cuddled (cwtched as we're in Wales) up on a bench with a hot chocolate.. what memories are made of! She didn't even squeal when one came swooping really close.
