My (Favourite) Little Death Trap

The Gallic ones like their 4-wheel bikes mini cars and there are
many modern examples of these.

But the vast number you see are still the oldskool ones.
Take a small flimsy production car and peel off most
of the bodywork, et voila! Genius.

Clearly an accident in any off the above over 30mph and you're
probably going to end up seriously injured or dead.

But which is the favourite?

I'm torn between the Moke and the Mehari.

I've always felt that a Moke with a spot of tuning would be a bit of a laugh.

I forgot the Renault Rodeo () but you hardly ever see them:

The obvious one is the 2cv. In a moment of extreme campness, my best mate's just bought one and it is a right deathtrap.

The Mehari is a 2CV variant.

Do you see many Renault 4s running around Nev, not just the plein air but generally ? I like the old 4, a basic utilitarian vehicle, would love to have a Renault 4 now.

Awesome. Also, the images hadn't loaded when I first commented and looking at them, I think they knock even the 2cv into a cocked hat!

My da bought two dollies as a restoration project (he planned to build one good cars out of two) and they really are flimsy wee things. Terrible cars

Definitely the Mini Moke.

My parents had one as their only car when we were growing up. Ours had no back seats, just a couple of old blankets to cushion us from the steel deck. Mum and Dad up front, all four kids and a grumpy Bull Terrier (which once ate nearly the whole the hood) squeezed in the back.

We liked to sit on the side pods gripping the seats and grab rails, screaming for Dad to go faster round the corners with our knuckles turning white wondering if we could hold on until the next straight!

I loved it then and I'd love one again now.

TYhe mini moke for me. We always used to hire them out in the late 70's and early 80's when we were on holiday in Cyprus. They were brilliant.
