Sharing Hotel Rooms

So it seems a certain politician is being lambasted for daring to
share a hotel room.

We normally have to bunk up at big corp shindigs but it's
normally in twin or x2 double rooms.

So has anyone else shared a hotel room with someone who
isn't their other half?

Yep. When I was working away in Surrey last month I had to share with my friend and co-worker, have done many times before when working away. Less money on diggs more in my pocket

Have shared rooms when away on stag nights to, but I have learned its best to get in and share with a light weight

always separate beds!

It's sometimes an absolute bonus to have some company rather than sitting on your own watching tv.

We're normally allowed to buy out the other bed when asked to share.
(So ending up paying out of own pocket.)

Which I have done on the last couple of occasions.

It's just strange that there are people floating the idea in the media that this
isn't a good thing to do and isn't common at all.

I suppose if it's with members of the opposite sex there'd be raised eyebrows,
but I know lots of people who share cabins on boats and have to share
with crew members of the opposite sex for months on end...

Funny you should mention boats. We always shared cabins on ferries, men and women. On one occasion a mix up occurred and we were a cabin short so I ended up sharing a bunk with one of the girls. Nothing happened, she was my best friend at work, I think we'd both have been offended if one of us had chosen to sleep in the chair. We laughed like a pair of idiots all night. Happy days

I think in this case there are other factors involved including:

1. the supposed complete and utter lack of qualifications this person had for the job of aid or advisor

2. the power and money discrepency between the politican and the aid (while it possible that low level, minimum wage staffers may be required to share hotel accommodations, that expectation isn't typically placed on the top dog of the political ladder)

3. the general sense that every time an American, Republican, family-values has done something outside of the norm, the fallout has typically resulted in forced closet evacuation, so people are expecting more of the same

There might be a lot more to this than I've outlined, but I've let the finer details of this story pass me by for a change.

Have shared on our trips to le Mans - sometimes three of us to keep costs down. (Is that a menage a trois)
Used to share on some Company trips too. In fact when the sales guys came to Head office they had the choice of single rooms in a lodge or sharing a twin at a better class hotel. Everyone took the sharing option.

Shared a twin room with colleagues of the same sex a few times, but wouldn't do so nowadays; just a personal thing as at the end of a working day I want some down-time. If I'm feeling sociable, I'll meet 'em in the bar.

I'd never share with a colleague of the opposite sex in any circumstances.

I think the Hague thing is unfortunate, but far too much is being made of it IMHO.

If I have a choice I'll take a single even if the sharing option means slightly better accomodation. The reason is I always get the snorer or sleeptalker if sharing

I have on a boozy weekend in Dublin (twin room). The ******* woke up bright and breezy at 7.30am when I'd only gone to sleep at 3am too.

what's worse is that 3 other members of our group shared a family room c/w double bed. But then they were from surrey so what can you expect?

Loads of times.
Some work events to save costs, some social events as it was easier to get the rooms. So what, get over it.
Be interesting to see if someone ordered something from the adult channels though!

started a new job about 10 years ago, and all the initial training (4/5 weeks) was done at their place down south. they company paid for a cheap B&B with shared rooms for me & the other new starters. sharing a room for 4 weeks with somebody you've only met once in your life on an assessment day? not on your nelly, totally unprofessional and unacceptable

i should've seen that as a warning and got out there and then, the whole company and job structure was a complete sham and i resigned after 8 weeks

sharing with a colleauge is ok if it's on a works night out, but not if its a proper part of the job

sharing rooms on stag nights/holidays etc is fine, totally different kettle of fish
