"Shakespeare In Love". Gwyneth Paltrow in the nip..! What's not to like about that...

Read a lot of his stuff at school, particularly enjoyed "The Merchant Of Venice"

Read Romeo & Juliet, and Macbeth when was at school, and loved them. Still sitting on my bookshelf all these years later, though a bit tatty now, have been re-read a few times.

I enjoy reading Shakespeare... but it has always been a slow job for me

I almost feel like reading him out loud

...had a massive influence on our lives today. Talking about a ruthless deal someone always wants his pound of flesh as the finances dwindle away someone reminds us we need to be frugle and look after our money otherwise you'll end up gloomy.

Shakespeare was said to have used around 3,000 different word in his plays, inventing many new ones along the way like bubble, trouble and even accomodation and amazement!

Sometimes difficult to read, but his importance is absolutely without question.

And there is my answer, so all's well that end's well

i absolutely loathe shakespeare's stuff. i acknowledge it's all very important bla bla bla, but i think i'd rather read the manual for the boiler. in german.

did a couple of his plays at school, hated every single minute of it with a passion. never seen any of his plays on stage, really can't imagine i'd gain any enjoyment from it

I love seeing Shakespeare live at the theatre - can't beat it. Being in Bristol I've been very fortunate to see Pete Postlethwaite's version of Macbeth (only five or six actors taking all the roles) and Donald Sinden doing a wonderful Polonius in Hamlet.

I've seen a good mix of the comedies, histories and tragedies and enjoyed them all. I learned early on that you shouldn't try to listen to every word, but let yourself go with the flow of it - understanding comes much easier that way.

If anyone thinks they don't like it, go and see one of his comedies - Taming of the Shrew (with a bloke in Katherine's role) or The Merry Wives of Windsor - great fun

Can't stand reading it. Probably something to do with the way it was taught at school. On screen doesn't do it for me either but I love to see it live in a theatre. Brings it to life and gives it much more meaning. IMO anyway.

Had a brilliant English Lit teacher at school who really opened my eyes to Shakespeare - I can still remember the feeling of excitement as the insights into the human condition suddenly opened up for the first time.

b@st@rd - if it wasn't for him I would have done law instead of arts and become rich (only joking )

The best thing Shakespear ever did was invent the fibreglass fishing rod.
