VW used to have to make them just for us "status conscious" British folk .My 147 Q2 has no clues to engine size but my wife had an A3 Sportback until last year with 18inch alloys, twin pipes and the no cost option of no engine size designation .It would have said 1.6.The 147 would say "150hp 1.9jtdm " but who needs to know?

Thinking of removing all the badges from my GTA (I've already removed the 147 one). Looks cleaner IMHO

I have a V6 so I am keeping the standard badges.

If I had a smaller engine or a Diesel they would come off.

Well from the voting so far looks like we are all indecisive, dick-swinging or lurking.

Left 'em all standard - would only add something like Italian flag etc, not engine size.

I have removed mine but want to replace them with new ones because it looks bare. I have a feeling they will be fairly expensive.

Mine says GTA on the back.

That is sufficient for people who are educated enough to understand what it means.

debadging a big-engined car is kinda cool, as those in the know will spot the other signs eg exhaust type etc. de-badging a smaller engined car reeks of having something to hide. like all the de-badged 5-series drivers with the m-sport kit and the alloys off the 535 - you ain't kidding anyone with your single exhaust hanging out the back, it's a 520d

i like having my single exhaust and the 1.9 jtdm badge - it encourages passat/golf/a4/3-series drivers to have a go, only to fail miserably as they get swept away by 347 ft lb of torque i imagine it slightly spoils their day, wondering how their uberwagon got blown away by a lowly italian 1.9

Mito 1.4 TB 120 - Veloce

Mito just says Mito on the back...the trim detail etc is out of the way on the inside of the door frame. Seems like it's a bit out of vogue to list the spec etc at present

Mine has 159 Ti and a Cloverleaf badge on the back. No engine size hinting

Modifica badges on the flanks for those few who know... ... oh and two nice oval tailpipes

I mashed a new Audi 2.0Tdi on the M62 last night. Smart ar se trying to drive into my boot. Obviously didn't realise what punch I was packing... :evillaugh: ~270bhp and too much torque to shake a stick at

I wouldn't stick badges on that proclaimed it to be something it's not because I'm not 12. I wouldn't add badges saying what it is because it already has them and I'm not 13. I wouldn't take the badges off because I was embarrassed about size because I wouldn't buy a car with an engine I felt was embarrassing in the first place.

As for taking them off just 'cos, if I had a V6 I might. I might even put 1.6 badges on there. However, with a 2.0 it's not quick enough to surprise anyone and not slow enough to be embarrassing (which is kind of why I bought it) so there doesn't seem to be much point.

The local hoodrats once rearranged the letters on the bonnet of my old Range Rover to spell "Ronge Raver".

I quite liked it and it stayed that way until I sold it.
