Re: Are you mechanically minded?
Know how, have done most of it. can't be bothered any more. Same with DiY and decorating, can't be bothered, I like watching and saying things like " You shouldn't be doing it like that " etc.
Still like to get my soldering iron, oscilloscope and DMM out and play with electronics though.

I drive the original HST's (the intercity 125's, as people know them) for First Great Western, out of Paddington, down to the West Country and into South Wales

Re: Are you mechanically minded?
A little - usually have a good idea of what to do but sometimes apprehensive. Had a few cars not worth the cost of paying someone to fix so you need to have a go and you do learn from it. Will also go with the "if it can't be fixed with a hammer, it can't be fixed" school.

Re: Are you mechanically minded?
I have a BTEC National diploma in engineering, but even before I actually studied engineering I was messing around with cars motorbikes etc, since when I was a kid, and I seemed to have a natural gift for it. Others I have known have become good mechanically but they have had to work harder to learn it.
I also work with people who have degree's in engineering, but they wouldn't know which way to turn a spanner. I like to refer to them as Academics. (Or theorisers)
I am sure a lot of people would know the type.

Fiat Coupe 20VT, mildly tuned to 260bhp
I would like to do to Rachel Stevens what Gordon Brown has done to the economy.
