Absolutely. I am from Scotland but very much consider myself British first. Something to be proud of at last, we're usually languishing around mid table by now. Well done to all of the athletes.

My only problem is the events are on at daft times. Can't they schedule the events so it's during our evening viewing !!

You're right Ralf, that'll be the new thing - but in the Brave New World which awaits humanity, everyone's genes will be logged for 'security purposes' from birth so any genetic adjustments will be detectable .

BTW, I am very, very proud of our Olympians!

Am massively proud of them. I must admit when I heard that our aim was to finish in the top 4 of the medals table in 2012 I scoffed. We're nowhere near that level (I, like most people believed)

But to beat that, 4 years early, is astounding.

I only hope it doesn't lead to disapointment in 2012, realistically 3rd is abuot as good as it can get, China and the US are just too dominant. Lets hope for more medals though!!!

(and please lets try not to write off 2012 with all the negative stuff. I for one think it will be a success, and an event to be proud of. We're just a nation of moaning minnies )
