Re: Could you........ (part two)

Does taking out someone whilst driving a train at 125mph count?

Re: Could you........ (part two)

This discussion is rather pointless and beyond AO's spirit, isn't it?

Re: Could you........ (part two)

No. Killing someone is the easy bit... but you do live a long time afterwards thinking about it.

Re: Could you........ (part two)

Normally I would say no, but If my life was threatened, or the lives of my family then I would do it without hesitation and with no remorse.

If for example someone comes at me with a knife I would have no hesitation in sticking it in them if I could.

I wouldn't owe them anything, as it is them who have tried to kill me.

Re: Could you........ (part two)

As a species we all have the ability to kill. Just because we are born into a society does not take that ability away. It's hard wired into us, part of our makeup to keep us alive and away from harm. Morality is a by-product of our society and nothing more.

Re: Could you........ (part two)

If I felt that my life or the lives of my family or even pets were at risk I would kill.

I don't have it in me to do anything but react though.

Re: Could you........ (part two)

I can immediately think of two people I'd like to kill.

I believe this is the most relevant post on this thread, I know my grandfather must have as he fought in WW2 and survived the D Day Landings.

Never spoke to him about it though so have no iea how it affected him.

So for instance, lots of folk says they could do it if loved ones were threatened, but I have to ask... What is the difference?

This thread isn't focused on the killing aspect it's meant to be focused on the psychology of remorse. I thought people would get that...

You live and learn.
