Yes; China are using this as propaganda - so they shouldn't complain if people use it to demonstrate against then

Re: China and the Olympics

The problem is nowadays that protestors ruin everything for everybody, Dont they have jobs ? homes ? families ? who pay these people to pop up all over the world protesting ? Why dont they protest about fuel prices ? taxes ? and all the other things that are wrong with this country. Still rent a crowd have been around for a number of years, Im still curious though who pay them ??

I think they pay for themselves.

I guess its easy to criticise and say "why don't they complain about X, Y and Z instead", but isn't that an excuse simply not to protest at all, ans no one could protest for every worthy cause...

There sure are a lot of vegitarians that drive Alfa's. I'm surprised, they usually have capervans, Hitler mobiles or 2CV's.

OK that's the last dig

Let's move on to the next rant.

True, very easy to sit on ones (usually fat) backside and sling mud, just because they don't agree.

I'd rather see action than apathy

They should keep their noses out of Chinas business, this is a sporting event boycotted by a bunch of people from the "we know whats best for everyone " Brigade, if they are so interested in Tibet maybe they should go there and try and help the poor people they are whining about . These self same people would also be the ones who protest about Britains involment in other countries business but expect us to interfere in Chinas ? Professional protestors !!

I would rather see British people protesting about this country sinking into the big mess that its heading for.

Re: China and the Olympics

I have to laugh

What !! Bloody foreigners what are they like!! they go around and have no respect for human rights - executing and killing their own people

At least we are not savages eh ??

We would never be party to having innocent men, women and children murdered in their tens of thousands and for what?? Greed for the black gold

BBC NEWS | World | Middle East | Iraq death toll 'soared post-war'

But thats ok though isn't it ??

My respects to the Armed service personell that have risked their lives and carried out their duties as commanded and expected....we can ask no more thankyou

But so sad we should even have to ask them !! and be party to what has close come to a genocidal situation....

A lot of pot kettle from this country and the USA - where it should clearly shut its mouth or hang its head in shame along with the Chinease Goverment....

The protests in Tibet are concerning China's human rights record and are humanitarian protests. By making the world aware of what's going on these people could save lives.

Protesting about England going to pot because banks got too greedy and now it hurts more to put petrol in the car is an entirely different matter.

In my opinion, and it's entirely that (let's all get along here), someone who travels across the globe to fight for the rights and freedom of his fellow man should be applauded.

I also don't think that the protesters can be called hypicritcal just because the country they come from has a bad record, they are acting on their own beliefs and not those of the country they happen to come from.

Speak softly and carry a big stick.

Yes let's make another joke at the expense of people being blown up in a warzone. Anyway we're off topic.

Re: China and the Olympics

So bloody right Ray

Human rights in this country - is being eroded ....and people want to go of and worry about somewhere that in effect is insignificant in their lives...

Get this place sorted and then think about trying to help other nations....

But while this country slips in the mire - we seem to watch it slip without as much as a whimper...

Why is that ??

When a country so developed can withstand over 30 thousand poverty related deaths in the UK???

Chris
I'm not sure why someone would protest if they thought the cause was insignificant. By insignificant do you mean that the resolution of the point protested will not directly improve the life of the protester?

Yes....

But only goverment can flex enough power to create the ultimate sanction which has now been labelled 'regime change'

So in all honesty protesting should be by the ballot box in this country - to have....the following

A: A goverment that respects the position it is given
B: A goverment that is engaged and active with its people
C: A goverment that activley persues the policies that it claims it would do.
D: A goverment that benefits the entire populous of the country than its focus goups.....black single parent lesbians to coin a phrase...

When the above can be addressed then perhaps if any energy is left we can go and offer our opinion on how other nations should run its own affairs....
