No you wouldn't, there are alternatives, I have a corner office at work with 6 or 7 - 10x9 foot panes of glass from waist height to ceiling.

It has been torture in my office and even opening the windows and no ammount of fans helped.

We have had fitted some reflective stuff on the inside of the glass which reflects the heat back out but also helps keep it in in the winter. This was a one hit thing and it'll save a fortune in heating come winter and electricity running fans and aircon all day long at a fraction of the cost.

Quality of light they let through is also quite nice.

Idea Re: Fans in the house

My son had a bad day at work, so he decided to go to the pub and have a few, he then came home and drank some more vino tinto then decided that his room was too hot, and what do you do when this all fits in to place ? Get on Ebay of course and spend 300 squids on a nice air con unit. So it gets deliverd in two big heavy boxes and decides that its not going to fit anyway!!! he kindly gave it to me and I installed it in my lounge !!! it was the best thng I ever did Brill !!

We have a desk fan we rarely use.

Spend all day in air con at 19 degrees so its a refreshing change to get a bit of warmth.

Re: Fans in the house

When, I say when, it gets hot and humid, close the windows and curtains through the day, and at night, open the rear bedroom windows, put the fan on max airflow, sucks the cooler night time ambient in, chills us down nicely.:

Re: Fans in the house

We have a ceiling fan in our room and have just fitted ceiling fans in the boys rooms.... they are remote controled - the fans that is not the boys - made the stupid mistake of letting them know this fact. Now every time it warm enough to have them on the following happens...

Lights on, fan on full steed, lights dim, fan on slow speed, light off then on dim, fan on full speed....no hang on make that medium speed...light on full - fan on low...light and fan off.... etc

Re: Fans in the house

As I've got older, I don't seem to be able to cope with heat at all. When we went to the Maldives last year, I kept having to dive back into the air-conditioned cabin for a while to cool down.
So yes, I have fans.
