The FIAT influence/new breed alfa's

What is your opinion on the new breed of alfa and FIAT's influence?

While they have been the parent company for some time, and there have been shared engines/platforms in the past there has been some discussion about the mito, and the fact that it is based on the grande punto.

Personally I think this is a good thing, there are some interesting engines and innovations on the way with small capacity turbo units and multi-air. And lets face it, it is the only way a company like alfa will survive

I am just waiting for the GTA version but what's your thoughts?

Fiat engines in Alfa's are a lot better than GM engines in Alfa's.

Nowt wrong with it IMO, as long as each brand has its own identity and characteristics.

Also long as they don't end up like VAG, where as all Skoda's, VW's, Seats and Audi's alll have the same engines and drive train, and drive pretty similar.

They've been one of the same for ages.

Tipo = Bravo/145/145 for example.

Nowt wrong with FIAT, well aesthetically speaking of course...

Re: The FIAT influence/new breed alfa's

Oddly I liked Fiats long before I was an Alfa fan...
I loved the first 500's,( and the new ones) and the little sporting Cinq. laugh a minute, I had a Punto, that showed me the true value of Italian character, and really like the Stilo, Grand punto, Brava and Bravo etc. I don't see a huge difference in the marques, they are at different points in the scale, and to beat off the big boys they need to stick together.
Lose one, loose them all

I think Alfa is being managed at arms' length and can make its commercial decisions.

I am sure Fiat believes in Alfa and for that, they need to make Alfa stand separate in the eyes of the buying public.

They've been less successful with Lancia, but so far it seems to work for Alfa
