156 GTA

Re: 156 GTA vs E46 ///M3

Maybe you should check the definition of a coupe, it has nothing to do with the fact that is has 1, 2, 3, 4, or 1268409 doors.

Re: 156 GTA vs E46 ///M3

The video posted of the 156 is not quite an accurate depiction of the strength of the 3.7.

The 156 you see in the video has close to 300 000kms on it, it needs to be mapped properly, has a sticking clutch and the exhaust leaks.

Also that motor is an old spec 3.7 using Honda pistons and very different to the version built today using Ross Forged pistons.

Also the M3 in that video is not quite standard.

See this, a proper 3.7 vs a stock E46 M3.

Re: 156 GTA vs E46 ///M3

the rx-8 is a coupe. end of.

there isnt really one standard definition of what a coupe is, its generally a 2 door car but can have 4, usually has frameless doors, but so do some saloons, often doesnt have a B piller, and has either 2 or2+2seater layout, but most importantly the modern definition has to have an interior capacity below a certain amount which technically means a ferrari 612 is a 2 door saloon car

on stagecoaches where the term comes from they were 4 seater coaches that had the front rear facing seats removed to create a smaller 2 seater coach.

the definition changes over time, convertables used to be called coupes as well. which is where drophead coupe comes from for RR convertables.

Re: 156 GTA vs E46 ///M3

The M3 CSL has specialist Michelin Pilot Sport Cups semi-competiton tyres as standard fitment, these are worth the guts of two 2 seconds a lap over even the best pure road tyre such as Pilot Sport 2's.

They are awesome tyres on a GTA for trackdays btw, my favourite tyre - but expensive!

I'm surprised the CSL wasn't quicker again though, its a stonkingly good car.
