147 GTA Q2

147 GTA; which zorst? Twin or quad

* *EDIT* * JUST REALISED THAT THE PRICES QUOTED ABOVE (from Gazzella) ON THE POLL ARE NOT INCLUDING VAT. THE PRICES INCLUDING VAT & CENTRE SECTIONS ARE A LITTLE DIFFERENT AND ARE AS FOLLOWS...

Twin Ragazzon + Centre Silencer + VAT = £ 479.40

Twin Supersprint + Centre Silencer + VAT = £ 878.90

Quad Ragazzon + Centre Silencer + VAT = £ 669.75

Quad Supersprint + Centre Silencer + VAT = £ 1231.40

Right then, this makes my decision a little easier..........*EDIT*

Hello. I reckon I'll want to change me exhaust at some point on me car, but which one??
I obviously want a Supersprint cos they're the dogs..., but have you seen the price of them...ooof !
But Autodelta use Ragazzons so they must think highly of them, and ive heard Pabloss's Quad Ragazzon and that sounds real nice.
I think I like the looks of the quad outlets better cos its more balanced, but i dont think i'd be that bothered if i got a twin (i think).
Also is there any issue of more or less bhp with the quad (i reckon less if anything) or is the difference (if any) so marginal, its not worth worrying bout?
Does anyone know of any dyno tests results between the 2 makes or the 2 types (twin & quad) ??
And then the prices.....jeez.
I'm only going to compare Supersprint and Ragazzon twins and quads.
The difference is massive between a twin Ragazzon and a quad Supersprint, and thats before a centre pipe gets factored in.
£283 vs £789, thats nearly 3 times the cost !
What do you reckon ???
Cheers

p.s. heres a picture of a quad and a twin, just to help the decision.

Re: 147 GTA; which zorst? Twin or quad

If you go onto YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. mate and search ALFA RAGAZZON I'm sure you'll be swayed,

It sounds incredible on the 156 V6 so should sound amazing on the 147 GTA.

Plus, it's alot cheaper for what really does appear to be no reason.

BHP gain, you'll maybe look at a 5BHP gain either way, and it won't be noticeable to be fair, you need to get the one that proves A) Most value for money, B) Which you believe sounds the best and, C) Which you like the look of the best.

Good luck mate!

(But go with the Quad Rag, )

Re: 147 GTA; which zorst? Twin or quad

Defo get a quad.

I don't think a backbox will make any difference either way to peak power, or midrange torque or whatever, as the exhaust gasses've still got 4 cats to pass through first and these are what are going to be most restrictive to gas flow.

Go for a quad and get the one that is made from stainless. If they are both stainless get the Ragazzon.

Re: 147 GTA; which zorst? Twin or quad

im normally very much against aftermarket quad exhausts, if it didnt get one in the factory you are a tit for putting one on and a bit of a wannabe, however both GTA's look odd with only the twin exhaust and should have had the quad as standard, as per the Brera.

putting a quad exhaust on a 1.8 or 2.0 car would make you look like a bit of a wannabe, putting a slightly larger single pipe is ok though because it looks like thats what it should be. i wouldnt compel anyone to leave the peashooter original one on the car but it would depend what they intended to replace it with.

the 2.2 brera has a quad exhaust because it would look bloody daft without one, the 147gta looks a bit wrong without a quad exhaust, it looks as though it should have one, and the rear was probably designed to have one but someone decided to penny pinch.

I disagree with the above statement, the basic 156 TS's came with pea shooter styled tail pipes, why on Earth would you compeel someone to keep that on there...?

Isn't the supersprint mild steel? I wouldn't spend that amount of money on anthing that wasn't stainless.

Re: 147 GTA; which zorst? Twin or quad

Does the 156 GTA come with Twin Ragazzon as standard?

And therefore, is that the standard option on the 147 GTA?

Quad does look good though - especially with that 3.7 badge on the back indicating Autodelta may have breathed on the Alfa V6 turning it from a hot hatch into a monster

hi mr greedy. cheers for your vote.
the 156/147 GTA just comes with standard alfa twin exhaust (not a ragazzon).

Re: 147 GTA; which zorst? Twin or quad

The twin exhausts typically give 1bhp more than the quad ones becuase the quads are not truely seperated exhaust flows, so really the right set of exhaust is essentially a fancy dummy which creates a nice sound.

The twin ragazzon sounds great on a GTA, just dont get the straight through centre pipe option!!! Way too droney and chavvy.

Isn't there another option that would set you out from the crowd a bit? What about twin ovals, one each side?
