English flag used to promote german car
I've seen pictures of Minis with the english flag on their roof in BMW dealerships and I've been meaning to ask you english people this: Does it annoy you that BMW uses your flag on their Mini in order to promote it?

Surely "Don't care" and "No" are the same though?

Re: English flag used to promote german car
Thank you for the correction, I've always had a hard time distinguishing between British and English and I wasn't sure whether the termn Union jack was appropriate. I hope I didn't insult anyone.

Not really. Don't care means that you don't care by whom the flag is used while No means that you do care and you think that it is OK for BMW to use it on the Mini.
Subtle difference and I hope I made it clear now.

Same can be said for Rolls, Bentley, Lotus etc etc...

Exactly. I did an assignment in my second year at uni about the effects of foreign direct investment in the UK and used BMW and the MINI as an example, I think their contribution to the exchequer in 2005 was over £1bn, not forgetting all the jobs they provide to skilled British workers in their plants, and also all the other jobs created in the parts production and supply chain.
BMW should be thanked for building the MINI in the UK, they could just of easily built it in Slovakia and probably made a fair whack more profit by doing so.

Alfa 156 3.0 24v V6, Silver, red leather, Q2 diff, GTA Teledials, headlights & inlet manifold, AutoDelta carbon intake, BMC CDA, decat pipe and SuperSprint rear box, Eibach Pro springs & Koni FSDs (Front), FK coilovers (Rear), Dastek Unichip - my 245bhp beast!
Gone but not forgotten: Alfa 156 2.4 JTD Veloce, Angel 'mad map' & BMC CDA, Ferodo DS2500s - the fastest tractor in town!
