Has your life improved since the changes???
Have the changes introduced recently to the way chat / drivel threads
are dealt with on AO made your life on here more fulfilling ?? Or has it
made you sad. Perhaps it hasn't made the slightest bit of difference.

Re: Has your life improved since the changes???
Personally it hasn't made any difference to me as I very, very rarely contributed to the chat/drivel threads. However, listening to the arguments put forward in Darren's thread I reckon the new set-up is more of a barrier to newbies joining the fun. Long term members with small-ish post counts (<1000) might be more tempted than before to join up to get the expanded EMOT though.

From a Moderator's point of view, it's much, much better.
Also from a user's point of view

Re: Has your life improved since the changes???
Let's be more succinct about this poll, we are only talking about WOT here, as some members don't actually bother with that lounge.
Or are threads in other lounges being dealt with in the same way? I ask because I haven't seen/witnessed.

AND of course your post count bares witness to that in such a short time?

Re: Has your life improved since the changes???
Gibbo, I think you've got to give it more time before you can make this statement.
A few people are complaining about the "feel" of the place but I don't see them being prevented from posting
Finally, we are working on a new chat facility which will work much better than the previous one.
Of course, we also think the changes in the Tech Lounges should have made it easier for people to navigate the forum and find information more quickly.

I thought this was a poll not a statement?

Tell me how many say a "a great change to the WOT lounge and how successful it is" by those not asking and involved in the changes. Also don't belittle so many heartfelt posts here by saying the few are "complaining" etc... read why they feel they can't/don't or are unsure.

Re: Has your life improved since the changes???
I am not going to argue. No one likes changes until they realise (if they do) that things work better.
A little pragmatism would go a long way.

It's yet another discussion which I thought was welcome, ie feedback.

Do you have any idea how that sounds?

My point being, I have no idea what I'm meant to be pragmatic about so cannot conform. ie new "invisible" rules and guidelines which are inconsistent as per points I made in the linked thread above? I simply have no idea what is and isn't accepted in WOT and for how long, depending on who's online moderating and what they spot or not?

Re: Has your life improved since the changes???
BF, so far I have asked a question, not made a statement.
But now I will make a statement:
You really are creating a them and us situation here chap. And you
seem to be expecting those who don't like what you are doing to
knuckle under and accept the apparant superiority of your position.
Why don't we just see what the people think?
Don't belittle the feel of this place mate, it's what brings people back.
We don't all post away to ourselves, most of us like to interact with others.
and if the feel has gone then so will they.
However, maybe that is what's desired in certain quarters. A clear out?

Re: Has your life improved since the changes???
I have no intention of creating anything resembling a You and Us mentality
Far from it.
I guess I must be seeing things quite differently than a few of you.
Please do provide feedback though as that's the only way for Ian to make the right call.

Re: Has your life improved since the changes???
Seems alright to me. I only occasionally join in with the drivel anyway. The tech lounges seem more logical. But the star rating and colours need working on (you rate right to left and they appear left to right but white as chosen and blue as not is a bit wrong)

When does the few become many?
When does it become apparent that there is a "voice" that isn't happy or unsure about changes?
===
On a separate note:
Even this poll is somewhat obscure as people voting might think it's about the general changes to the forum, ie tech forum, the new ignore lounge feature etc and vote likewise. I agree, the forum changes are better in that way.
Or many will vote as they don't actually post in WOT on a regular basis and have no thoughts but say yeah, no to chat or makes no difference to them anyway -votes.
Just my thoughts on this poll.

Ah come on now. If you're going to twist everything BF says, or read things into it which were clearly not intended, then all you're going to achieve is to make him stop trying to be understanding.
Don't let paranoia get in the way of a sensible discussion of the matter.
