Spider Hardtops?

Anybody got a hardtop for a 97 spider?
Autodelta seem to do a nice one but want over two grand for a nice new one.

George.

Re: Spider Hardtops?

They are veeerrry heavy - impossible to put on by yourself without marking the car

Re: Spider Hardtops?

One of my mates has an M3 convertible with the extra hard top option, he says his is definitely a 2 person job (don't know whether he's hinting I should help???) ... he only swaps his twice a year ...

Re: Spider Hardtops?

The previous owner of my Spider had one, but I didn't buy it. Instead I had to get all the scratches fixed where he'd 'missed' when putting it on

Re: Spider Hardtops?

It came from East Kilbride but I think the hardtop has gone now, in fact I think AutoDelta bought it back so it might be worth checking with them for second hand ones?

Re: Spider Hardtops?

Thanks, that's a thought.
My son's friend has one for his BMW. It only goes on in the winter and is an engineering task to fit, remove and store. However, it IS nice and snug in the winter!

Re: Spider Hardtops?

I can't complain about the cosiness of the soft top RB.

However, my biggest problem was going to be securely storing the hard top when it was off.

Re: Spider Hardtops?

Yes, the soft top is well lined and is one of the best in the business and is quiet at motorway speeds. I have had some cars with tops which resembled tents in howling gales, even around town.
Rob has a special bracket system to hang the top on the wall of his garage.
If you really want a challenge, try the Mercedes SL hardtop!
(I have e-mailed Autodelta to see if they have any used ones)
