Help Fiat 500 Abarth SS challeging my 147 ownership
Hi all,

I am troubled. My employer has given me the OK for a 147 Jtdm 120bhp Collezione. This has been my very lovely bella since Oct. 06. Now over 1 year and about 25,000 miles later I am thinking about the Fiat 500 Abarth....

But there are too much rumours: 135bph, 150 bhp or even an SS 180 bhp. Which car can I expect to be true?

The 135 bhp would be no option, since my 147 is fast enough, but the 150 or 180 bhp are a real threat to my 147 ownership. My employer will be OK with either if these, but what is the reality?

Will there be a 500 Abarth SS with the Grande Punto Abarth 180 bhp engine or do we get stuck with the 150 bhp engine?

Jah! Welkom terug Mr Joost!!!

Think about the weight though??? The 135bhp (if true) would be "rapid", let alone a 150/180 version

I'm also looking out for the Abarth "realisation". It would be a serious 147 contender given the right dynamics and (possibly) tempt me out of the GT!

And that is one reason for the 139 Junior where you should be able to get performance with some class

I have seen some images of the 139 (or junior) and they really made my mouth water. Sadly though, I don't think there will be a really fast version. I mean, why is there no faster 147 anymore?

Maybe because the 149 is upon us, but I don't think the 139 in a fast version will be available for about €25K. The point is that I have to drive my 147 for another 3 years. The fact that the 500 is cheaper (also to run) is the only reason my employer will agree to sell the 147....

And thanks for the welcome back. It has been too long. Sadly for my lovely 147 I have to give a lot of time to my employer in return.

And my employer will not spend more cash than my 147 has cost. So a Junior 230 bhp will be out of the question

I Know, but the 147 is at times lacking power. It is not the fastest car I have owned, that was my 146 Ti, but the 147 does not feel like a drivers car.

It is fast enough, has all options I could wish for, but at times she really is not the joy in driving I am looking for. Under 1,800 revs the engine is as good as dead, gear change is slow and she leans over in corners more than I care to put up with.

Dutch magazine Autoweek has mentioned the 500 Abarth being sold from June 2008. Fancy a test drive Hans?

BTW: great Job on the Spyker site! Rijk must feel proud.

But I also thought the Junior was going to have a 180bhp engine - so if you cant have the 230bhp maybe that one will be more affordable??

I am definitely getting a 500 Abarth. I am pretty sure they'll use the same boost kit on the 500 as Grande Punto and let the car reach 180hp

Bit disappointed the article claims the SS version will "only" have 20hp more than the standard Abarth

I am still most definitely getting one though

On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if the 180bhp version will have a pricetag somewhere around € 24k in NL.
