I've had 3 of the listed cars in the last 2 years.
TT 225 was excellent - totally reliable, quality interior & 32mpg
Lotus Elise S2 was a terrible waste of money - sounded like a tractor, rattled to B*****y & everything that was not bonded (read glued on) fell off it. An overated, overpriced disaster IMHO

. And you try getting in & out of one without looking silly

. - I put up with it for only 2 months - my wife refused to get in it..... (She couldn't get out without a tug!).
Golf R32 was superbly engineered but bland. 22mpg (max) & £650 insurance p****d me off as well - so it had to go after 12 months.
Current car: New Alfa Brera 2.4JTDM - Insurance £184, 37-38mpg however driven. Pure luxury interior & a VERY nice place to be in. Totally reliable & one of those rare cars that you always have to turn around & look at as you park it

.
I know it will depreciate like a lead baloon but so what - it's MY money
(had a 205 1.9 GTi Special Edition in 1991 & put 55,000 on it in one year. That is one of my all time greats. This was one of the few VERY quick A & B road cars that was totally predictable & safe to the driver's limit - & tiny enough to overtake under most circumstances)
