Value my Volvo
OK, so I'm picking up a new car tomorrow, which means the T4 is up for sale.
WITHOUT LOOKING AT ANY ONLINE VALUATIONS, what value would you put on my 2003 S40 T4?
Spec is as follows; - Sport Lux trim (top spec - lowered suspension, all the toys)
- Metallic Silver
- Cruise Control
- Climate Control & AC
- Premium Audio
- 16" Alloys
- Black leather
- DSA/Traction Control/ABS/EBD
- Airbags all over the place
- Speed sensitive wipers
- Xenon HID headlights & wipers
- 2 owners (including me)
- 2.0 16v turbo engine (200bhp)
- Electric windows, mirrors, central locking, alarm immobiliser and all the other usual things.
The only things that were available that it doesn't have are sat-nav, electric seats and heated seats.
It's in good condition, all the tyres are good, as are the alloys.
MOT & tax Jan 08.
What do you reckon?

Re: Value my Volvo
Are you coming back then Andy
You don't say the mileage but I'd guess at £10k.
Should be able to get a blinding 156/147 for that or chuck an extra £4k in and you'll be in GT territory

Re: Value my Volvo
Nice car, and depending on condition, £5k-£6k IMO.
EDIT, I meant mileage not condition [oops]

Re: Value my Volvo
Unfortunately I'm not coming back Simon, not just yet.
I'm undergoing a cost-cutting exercise to free up capital and pay off some of my student debts. The new car IS a V6, though - so I'm half way there!
The Volvo has done 57000 miles, btw.

Re: Value my Volvo
I do have a rough value for it, but I'm interested in the public perception of how much it is worth.
Andy, I'm already a member of that forum - good bunch of people on there.

Re: Value my Volvo
I'd guess about £6k. Those T4's sell really cheaply.

Re: Value my Volvo
I think Pud is right, they're a performance bargain. Except I'd go even further. I think it's worth less than £5000.
If I've seriously undervalued your car, then many apologies
EDIT: Looking back over the thread, looks like I'm on my own with this. If I'm right, then it certainly backs up your (I assume) belief that public perception might be they're a much more expensive car than they are.

Re: Value my Volvo
My son sold his V70R last night, year 2000, for $18K canadian. they are very rare in Canada and hold their value.
Your Volvo is newer, but I don't know the market, so can't really guess.

Re: Value my Volvo
my 'old' 1998 V70r that had 247k on the clock sold for £3.5k early last year, good ones were making in excess of£4.5/5k at the time.

Re: Value my Volvo
Haven't looked at 'book' but I bought 2 years ago for £2.8k which was a 2000/W with 87k. In reality if you want to move it quickly I'd have thought £4k/£4.5k - serious bargain given the performance.

Yes, the one at £6.5k is mine. There's also an 02 plated one with a lower spec up at £7k as well.
I'm not in a hurry to get rid of it, but obviously I'd like to see it go sooner rather than later, but for the right price. I don't want to be losing too much money on it either.

Re: Value my Volvo
IMHO having owned one then £6.5k is still good value for money. When I bought mine all I wanted was cheap speed - something that was actually faster than me on occasions and it definitely fulfilled that. Only issue with pricing is that being a Volvo they last forever so an older/cheaper one is often 90% as good as a more recent one at 50% of the price.
Good luck with the sale.

Re: Value my Volvo
Quick update - it sold for £5600, lower than I would have hoped, but it WAS due a service and it was valued at £5700, so probably about right.
