Re: FIAT News
Well, given how much McLaren Mercedes knows about Ferrari, they might as well make it official

Re: FIAT News
I'd be wary of linking up with Daimler if I were FIAT..I mean..would you want to be associated with cars that rust prematurely and are unreliable
What Merc are after is somewhere cheap to build their smaller cars..maybe in the Fiat/Suzuki factory in the czech republic

Re: FIAT News
Marchionne yesterday dropped the news that in case the stock market were to penalise Fiat shares for being a conglomerate, he may think about a spin off of the car division. Stock price went up almost 6% on the back of this.

Re: FIAT News
Fiat has now formally terminated their JV in China with Nanjing Motors, leaving it free to pursue a deeper agreement and cooperation with Chery (who, btw, is supposed to be building Alfa's in China!).
Also, Chery and Fiat signed on 6th September 2007 a memorandum of understanding to have China build components for Magneti Marelli's selespeed gearbox
Hopefully, the Chinese will bring some build quality to selespeeds

Re: FIAT News
Fiat has halted production of its 1.3 Multijet engine to assess anomalies with an externally supplied part. Suspending production of the engine will have repercussions on delivery volumes in February.

good news, but does little to help the 800 odd vehicles held at port, vehicles on hold at dealers (unable to deliver) and the ones which have already been delivered, assume a recall will be in order shortly, many of the cars being for march the first delivery including the much awaited fiat 500

Re: FIAT News
Ive read is was faulty head gaskets. Most cars have not been delivered yet. My sister got hers last week and wasnt on the list, though the car that went out with hers (both 1.3MJ) was on the list, so will probably be recalled.
I think it shows Fiats quality system is working well

i think head gasket failure is the result not the cause (i could be wrong)
most of the cars will not be delivered as people are waiting for new plate which is good news
bad news is most of the expected 1st march cars are on hold at the port or dealers, not sure customers will be so tolerant ,when they are told cars are unable to be released as many will be expecting them next weekend and insurance and payments will be already in place, whilst they may or may not have their quality system working,
i wonder how they will fair on customer services, which is likely to fall on the dealers especially as march 1st falls on weekend
