Please stop me before it's too late!
Peeps, I need your help as I am succumbing to the dark forces of a rice rocket.
The rice rocket!
Got my Nissan dealer (for those who don't know, the family car is a Nissan Murano) to arrange a test drive of the new GT-R in a couple of weeks …
Some of you know that I've been tempted before but after seeing a few whilst driving around, I am starting to get the itch for its unbelievable performance.
The only downside is the speed limiter (to 180kmh) applied to it (and all Japanese cars sold in the domestic market by the way) whose removal would void a very much needed warranty.
Ah…
Anyway, if I manage to finalise the test drive, I will duly report it as per the others
Keep you posted

You could just get one and sell it on after 6 months.

Re: Please stop me before it's too late!
I'm not sure you'd get to savour the performance from what you often say about the roads over their Biggie, so it begs the question "why bother?"
However, what a piece of kit! If you can then go for it chap. I'd rather ask "why not?"
Run it for 3-4 months - get it out of your system, then arrange an export deal to the UK and sell it at a premium. Win-win for BF.

Re: Please stop me before it's too late!
I am sure some clever chappie at Nismo will soon come up (if they haven't already) with a reversible remap to take the limiter away, and put the car back to standard in case the warranty needs to be invoked.
I would find the temptation too much if I was in your shoes BF, TBH. 73GTVJim idea sounds like a good way out - you get to scratch an itch, and not lose money.

It wouldn't be NISMO as they are the official tuner. MINE's already got a kit for it but apparently the guys that did it got all busted (as per reports on the GT-R forum).
BTW, test drive is scheduled for May 6th

Re: Please stop me before it's too late!
The limiter is set by GPS, is it not? Outside of Japan (or even on the track IN Japan, I believe), the limiter is removed.
No need to do any more than 180km/h on public roads anyway, IMHO.

Yes and Yes. I agree, I don't expect to go more than 180kmh on the road but the fact that I cannot do it sort of pees me off, given my Maser could go all the way to 280kmh.
