Hmmm Croos ply and radial tyre pressures..

Hello everyone.
I have just been inflating the tyres on my brothers morris minor. The tyre pressures in the book are states as 24psi Front and 26psi rear.

However my brothers car has been fitted with radial tyres. Do I still need the same tyre pressures, or should I increse them to take into account the extra flex in the sidewalls on radial tyres?

The tyres do look a bit flat at the book pressures.

Cheers,
Simon.

Re: Croos ply and radial tyre pressures..

I feel a call to the Morris Minor Owners Club website would be in order. They are bound to have a least 20 different answers.....

I used to drive these in the Army Cadets REME section at school. I learnt to drift them on a damp playing field beautifully, especially the longer wheelbase countryman, until a twit drifted it into a tree (not me)

the book for my Gt junior say 22 and 24 and that had radials as standard, and I bet the Moggie weighs less and maybe has even higher profiles (my are 70) so probably about right

Thanks mate. I think the Moggie weighs about 750 kilos. The tyres he has are 80 profile Toyos.

Re: Croos ply and radial tyre pressures..

High profile tyres always look under-inflated by modern standards.

24/26 sounds about right.
