No personal experience, but i think Evo magazine ran one as a long-term test car, and rated it very very highly. You could look on the Evo website and see what they say?
I saw a 57 reg one the other day, first one i've ever seen in the metal, and it looked great!!
Like you say, massive amount of car for the money

Yep, massive amount of car for the money. I saw the test on Top Gear with this versus the Chrysler 300C 5.7 and the VX Monaro, and IIRC the Jag scored quite highly.

Re: Jaguar S Type R - Supercharged 4.2 V8
I recall it being tested against the M5 at the time of release, the E49 that is. It was described as good, but not quite good enough, the autobox apparently the main weakness.
Still being described as nearly as good as an M5 is hardly damning.

Especially when I've seen one for 13K in Black with Black leather mmmmmm although I still feel it's a little 'old man'

Mind you, you can get a good M5 for that kind of money, that is what I would choose. Make sure you get the facelift model though. But if you cant stand the image of BMW, then the Jag is a good second choice.

Awful car to look at tho', and you'll never shake off the Jaguar 'old man' image.

It is a bit 'old man', but then you are getting on a bit..
Maybe an older XKR instead?

There is no comparison between the two.
Go for the Maser Spyder

NO No No , not old more lets say suave .....just ozzes power & even though the young pretenders want to beat it they know the old bastard will probably win Lol.......................
Or lets put it this way :
There is a Old Bull & a young Bull on top of a hill & they are looking down into a field full of cows, the young bull says "Come on dad lets run down & shag a cow !!"!Pant ,pant ....the older Bull says "No non, lets walk down & shag em all!"
So it may look old but it still do the job properly when it wants too
