Evo X (10)

Working up London and having to walk about 10mins either way to two undergroung stations I get to see alot of very tasty cars during the working week.

Tonight I saw my first Misti Evo X (10) and to be honest I was alittle dissapointed. The Lancer has never really been a attractive looking car but because of its ablities it demands respect, but then new one just lacked something and just didnt look right. Being a fan of all cars no matter the brand I've always followed what comes out of the land of the rising sun.

Still waiting to see my first WRX or STi Subrau hatchback tho

Seen anythin interesting lately?

Re: Evo X (10)

I saw an Audi S5 the other day, driving in the daytime with its chav LED lights on

Gotta say it looked mean from a distance but up close it looked bland.

Re: Evo X (10)

My mate has the new STI. Went for a drive the other day.

He had the model before. The difference is huge. It has a idrive style engine management thingy. It has economy setting and it drives like a "normal" car. You whack it into death mode and it's very very fast as you would expect. It's a lot more refined than the previous shape. but still fun. You don't feel like it's going to kill you. The steering is odd though. A bit too light for me. The interior is way better than the old version. They have made an effort. Still a bit platicy though.

The nose looks great, but it's bum is...well... dull. But the quad exhausts, like the M5 look great.

He's waiting for the pro drive kit to come out

The only reason you would buy a S5 is because you cant afford a ///M6 end of story.

S5 ain't in the league of the M6.. M6 is competing with the R8!! They're about the same price

The S5 is pretty comparable to the new M3 if you ask me. 4.2 V8 vs 4.0 V8.. I reckon I'd rather have the Beemer though.

Congrats on 100 posts,
Nope,

The A3 is up against the 1series
The A4 is up against the 3series
The A5 is up against the 6series
The A6 is up against the 5series
The A8 is up against the 7series
The Q7(or whatever its called) is up against the X5
The TT is up against the Z4

BM doesn't have a answer to the A2 but then again it is a horriable looking little thing lol

BM are looking to launch a X6 as well which as you can imagin is like a 6series on big wheels - it wont be long till BM and Audi are producing half the models Merc make. Their model list just goes on forever, with that and they make their cars with Blue tack and sellotape no wonder they are always at the bittom the JDpower list lol

Re: Evo X (10)

I reckon the A5 is up against the 3 Series Coupe. Because Audi don't make an A4 coupe, only a cabriolet. And the A5 is built on the A4 chassis, whereas the 6 series is built on a modified 5 series chassis..

Also, the A5 is priced to match the 3 Series coupe, not the massively more expensive 6 series.

Re: Evo X (10)

Not a lot of chat about the new Evo, is there?
Funnily enough, I had a run the new sti at castle combe the other day. It feels like a 3 series, and has lost a lot of the raw edge. Fairly quick but not at home on track anymore, too soft and gearing is wrong. Still very competent on the back roads by all accounts. Not sure who's gonna buy it?? Apart from my mate that is After initial disappointment, I now think the looks not too bad, shades of the Integrale in there

I guess the Spec C will be the new sti.

Re: Evo X (10)

The funny thing is in tuning mags they review it and say things like it needs a little more get up and go, it needs slightly better suspension and the 18's are optional (oh and you only get gold wheels if you ask for them rather than standard) but most Scooby's never stay on standard suspension and have at least a better exhaust and induction system so the comments need to be taken into context really.

I think I like the front end of the new STi better than the Evo, but the quad exhausts just dont suit the rear, I'm looking forward to seeing Jap tuners getting a decent sized dustbin on the back to give it the classic JDM look and get that flat four note out
