Re: MGF VVC, BMW Z3, MR2 Roadster...
In all honesty I think I've made my mind up. Think being the operative word though,
For £2500 I can pick up a late 90's MGF VVC with FSH and around 60K on the clock, maybe after a bit of bartering even less cash can be handed over.
I've seen a few that I like but they're all a bit too far away for my liking.
I mean, the performance stats of the MG are pretty good for a 145BHP 1.8i engine, especially compared against the Boxster 2.5.
Also, why are members of an Alfa forum questioning the reliability of another make of car?

Nah definitely not, as what I was thinking of doing was getting it for Lisa as a 21st birthday present, having it on her insurance perhaps, and then I drive it around at the weekends or something.
Why? What is this, Twenty Questions?

Mind you there's something I like about this, well lots actually, nice colour, nice interior, niggly faults to put off lazy buyers...You'd have to look at it in the metal, mind, but if it looks and goes well.....

Cheers Jay, but they don't really look as though they've been cared for. The first one's all dirty with no mention of a cambelt change, the second one's been ragged no doubt, and the third one has no history.
NEXT!
Cheers anyway though bud,

Re: MGF VVC, BMW Z3, MR2 Roadster...
The VVC K series is the worst of the lot when it comes to engine problems.
A friend of mine owns a lotus elise, and this is what the lotus garage told him. Consequently he bought a Non-VVc verison and added hot cams.
Its not a bad engine, but can be very temperamental. The long bolts that go through the engine couldn't have been that good an idea as no one has copied it. (On a car at least)

Once again, for a decent one I'd have to save up for a while, and ideally wanted something for this summer. My other half's dad has an S2K and it is a great car to drive, even if the sound isn't quite an Alfa V6
Maybe I could just buy his? At a discount price of course,

How bout getting a long loan for a 2.7 boxster (get a pre 2001 one and you wont get stiffed for tax next year), keep it well maintained and depreciation is non-existant, then in a few years when you sell it you'll have a nice 10k deposit for a mito gta!

Would have been serious fun though.. 220bhp, 1135kg and LSD fitted. Serious performance there, not to be sniffed at for two an a half K.

Re: MGF VVC, BMW Z3, MR2 Roadster...
Nope, not at all bad really mate, but if you want 220BHP get a Fiat Coupe, at least that has the looks to go with the performance!
That thing there, at the heart of it, is just a glorified Rover 200 mate,
