Re: Lamborghini Gallardo: Test Drive Review
Well, today I asked my oldest (5 and a half years old) whether we should get the Gallardo and first he said he wants it blue than he wasn't happy about the fact it didn't have back seats and it wasn't fair that we wouldn't all fit in it.
So, the Gallardo is a no go

This has always been a huge dilemma for me as well - even though we have two cars, the wife and kids have always insisted that even though 95% of the time I drive my car alone, that there must be 5 seats in my car as well - it really limits your choice of cars if you are a sports-oriented driver (for me it has been Impreza Sti, BMW M3, 147 GTA, Alpina B3S - all 5 seaters).
Though you may not be interested in such vehicles, at your price point, the M5 is an absolute wild ride and has plenty of room for 5, the Quattroporte, is less wild, but makes up for it with it's sheer beauty. The new Alpina B5S is also a very interesting car, far more than the early B5 (much more power, faster shift transmission)...

Well, as you know, I have been regretting my compromise to get the Alpina after all the pressure from the wife and kids. It is a great car, but the transmission really takes away from its potential as a serious sports car. I am now thinking rather than selling it and getting a really expensive 5 seater like an M5, that I will keep it along with her 7 seater Toyota, and get a cheaper third car that is a truly an uncompromised sports car (like the new Elise SC). I wish some new GTA's would come out - we'll see...

When they get round to making it of course. We're still no nearer to knowing about if/when there will be a 159 or Brera GTA than we were this time last year..

Re: Lamborghini Gallardo: Test Drive Review
You could have got a Brera 3.2, but the performance wouldn't have been up to that of your 147 GTA..

Re: Lamborghini Gallardo: Test Drive Review
Last night I watched the Top Gear where they tested the Merc C63AMG - WOW, it looks fun.
Merc aint normally my choice of car, but this car gives Merc a new look.
Watch it on youtube, they also test the new M3 and RS4.

I guarantee that you will just LOVE the transmission and engine on the M6!!!!! Don't like the lines of the car at all (the Alpina version looks a lot better, though it has a smaller engine and no clutchless manual option), but this is my complaint with all the BMWs designed by Chris Bangle and the reason I got an E46 Alpina...
Though I haven't test driven an R8 yet, it sounds like that too, has an amazing transmission and engine - I like the way you can see the engine room like you can in a 430. A guy down the street took delivery of one about 2 months ago - can't say that I am impressed by the engine note from the street, though it sure is a car that draws a lot of attention from it's looks.
