My Twinnie for sale
After much head-shaking and beard-stroking, I recently came to the conclusion that surely occurs to most Alfa owners at some point in their lives: I must have more horsepower.
As a result, a V6 has been purchased from the classifieds on this very forum and now my Twinnie has to go.
She's up for sale below at the following links:
Alfa Romeo : Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 16v Twin Spark 1996/P
http://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/class...ct=1801&cat=74
Any comments on the ad/car would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Will

Ooh, whose did you buy?

Cheers. It'll be a challenge to maintain it as well as Symon has but I'll do my best!
Do you think the price is OK for my TS?

I am going to miss the car a lot, but I am glad it is going to someone who will look after it.
Wills Car is very nice by the way, if I was after a TS GTV it would be on my list.

Yes, especially as its had an engine change and all the other bits done, there is always that psycological thing with buyers when a car has done over 100k but i think your pricing is fine.

Right. No serious interest since I put the car up for sale last weekend. Apart from the man claiming to be buying the car for his terminally ill father who couldn't pay me directly because he was stationed on a North Sea oil rig, yet suspiciously, didn't know how to spell 'oil' or 'rig'.
I know it's still early days but I will soon have an embarrassment of GTV riches with no room to park them all. My Borough's stingy permit policy only allows one car per person.
Does anyone feel like making me a cheeky offer? Not kick in the balls cheeky but I don't mind swallowing a little bit of pride.
I'm reluctant to do ebay as similar cars have been going for £750-900 recently, then fees, haggling etc.
Where do you think the best places to sell a GTV would be. Does anyone have any experience of Autotrader? I really need to shift her over the next fortnight.

I used autotrader online in november, it was £15 (i think) for a photo add that would last 2 weeks, the car sold within 24 hours of placing the add, i had approx 4 responses over that 24 hour period so could be worth a try.

I certainly wouldn't complain if I could have a similar result. Maybe that's what I should do.
I'd be tempted to knock off some of the asking price as there are some others on there at £999 but having thought about it I really don't think that I'm asking too much.
I guess the fact that my car has done 130k is a bit of a bugger, even though it's had most of the main bits replaced recently including the engine!
Cheers for the advice.
Will

Id've thought it would sell for that easily! It looks gorgeous, I'd certainly take a look at it if I was in the market for one.

I saw it in the metal when Will came to view my GTV and it is a nice example.
I like the colour as well.

that's looking good. I think a lot of people would prefer to have a phase II but the key to these cars is finding one that's been well looked after and yours should sell fairly quickly at your price I should imagine with recent cambelt, powerflexes, rad. A lot around the £1k mark are in poor condition so it will be a good deal for the future owner. My only idea is to write the date of the cambelt change as well as the mileage.

To be honest, I absolutely love the colour. I can't understand why Alfa never made the Phase II in Atoll blue, I much prefer it to Vela Blue.
Of all the GTVs I've seen, I'm not sure that I can think of a better colour for the car (Eclipse Grey excepted!!). Cue die hard Ferrari red/tan leather lovers - understandable but a little generic IMHO.
Still it's a lovely colour. I've had several enquiries since I reduced the price and have two appointments tomorrow. I hope she goes to a good home.
