One here my friend.....

http://www.usedcarsni.com/61187806

or try a 159 2.4 and it would give you an idea of the engine.

I drove a 2.2 Brera a few months back before getting my 159 and while although the car was stunning, I thought the 2.2 was a little underpowered.

You may be better with the 2.4 and a remap, or of course the daddy.....the 3.2 V6

I assume the 2.2 you drove was this one....

Yes it was indeed. Very few about. It wasnt neccessarily one for sale I wanted to see, was more to have a chat with the owner, have a good look - etc.

I dont particularly like going to tyre kick with a car i know is way over budget ans then theres the whole dealer side of things to deal with.

i dont think the 2.2 is for me though going by the drive in the brera last week

That 2.2 now seems to be sold according to the ad.

You should consider travelling to the mainland - far better choice, and savings in car prices should at least cover your travel costs.

I agree with you - the mainland is the answer and my Coupe I traveled to wales to pickup so its no biggie - but in saying that , I'd rather go prepared to buy and knowing what I'm looking for in the 2.4 range - hence why it'd be nice to get to grips with one and its owner locally to make sure its the car for me (if that makes sense)

I went to the mainland to get mine & heavily recommend it - don't have a 2.4 or I'd let you give it a go. I flew to a dealer that had 2.2, 2.4, 3.2 & Prodrives and give them all a quick spin to see the difference. If you look on Autotrader there's a few in this position. When I then picked the car up it was £120 for flight & getting to dealer, £120 for Holyhead-Dub boat and I put £40 in tank to top up although dealer gave me full tank to start. At the time, Mervyn Stewart were promising to get me in a similar car, slightly higher mileage, lesser spec for about £1800 more...

Lovely, is it 3.2 ??

You mentioned in an earlier spotted post about an english red desino blue brera at vic square.....

low and behold my neighbour 5 doors up is the owner and in my very street has been lurking a 2.4 diesel.

im nearly certain its a diesel as he passed me today with a wave and I nearly fell on the street.

must go wrapping on his door and find out when he got it etc and how he likes the diesel.

I can;t believe how ive missed it for so long???

I had looked at the misano blue with the blue/tobacco interior but eventually we settled on black/tan combo. I'd ruled the 3.2 out as really didn't want the extra petrol/insurance/tax cost when I have no real use for the car other than as a GT - up and down the dual carriageway is where I'll use it (& I have the S3 for the 'real driving'). My GF uses the car the most - to commute to work, pick up kids etc so she doesn't need the extra oomph either. That left the prodrive as the most desirable but the GF didn't like the dark headliner/no skyview. I tried the 2.4 and standard 2.2 and although the 2.4 is a bit more punchy, the 2.2 sounds better/has no filter hassles etc so we plumped for it. We searched for 4 months to get the one we wanted - all loaded up inside, remapped previously - we love it.

If you want something fast though, don't take a 2.2 or even a 2.4 - the 3.2 is the only one I'd call 'quick'.
