Looks like I'm in the minority here...
I'm a very unhappy Mangoletsi customer. I won't go into details, as I'm still hoping the nightmare will have a happy ending, but it does look as though they have sold me my last Alfa.

Re: Mangoletsi
Well my car is booked for next week to complete the work that didn't get finished last week (rocking chair).
With my previous car a BMW the work was always completed at the first, same goes with my wife's VW.
I find it a real pain in the ar*s to keep taking a car back time after time for the same problem. Don't know if its Mango's fault or Alfa.

The rocking Brera seat is a know fault I'm surprised they couldn't fix it on the first visit

Re: Mangoletsi
It's a well known fault only my car has to go back for a 4th time.
1st time 4 months ago, 1 day to diagnose problem with seat and order parts.
2nd time to change seat runners.
3rd time (last week) car in for window problem, alarm and seat, parts didn't turn up for seat, car was in for 4 days.
4th time next week to fit parts for seat, and refit door panel rattle after window fix visit 3.
You would think it would be simple, but its an Alfa.

I can hardly believe it with modern manufacturing methods and quality expectations.
OK, the first few examples of Grandpa's Rocking Chair Syndrome might have taken a bit of time to investigate and resolve but not now IMO.
It seems so commonly mentioned that the perception is it occurs on most if not all Breras. Surely the plant has modified the original design by now? It is also surprising that all dealers do not seem to have a kit of parts and approved procedure for promptly correcting the fault within hours of drop off.
I mean, as a dealer, you don't have to be a genius to know how many Brera owners you have sold to and ensure you always have at least a couple of sets of corrective component kits on hand?
Or am I thinking too much like someone involved in manufacturing?

Re: Mangoletsi
When I bought the Cup they put in a brand new clutch and replaced all the pads and disks
It started of as just a replacement gear linkage but Craig told me he wanted it to be as good as they could get it before it left the showroom
Had to wait a few more days but it was worth it

Maybe you - maybe I am as well.
I worked as a production engineer in the motor industry from the mid-sixties to the late nineties. In that time I saw a total change in the attitude to quality, from the old way of just push product down the line & let the inspector find the rejects to the implementation of proper quality systems designed to get the job right first time. Sadly, in Alfa's case, I can see no real evidence of any quality system, from design right through to dealer service - they are, in terms of quality, still in the 1980s.
My attitude to Alfa right now? Love the cars, but I'm getting to the point where I'm wondering if poor quality, durability & service are too high a price to pay. I'm beginning to understand why people buy dull, boring cars!

If we are what we eat I'm quick, cheap & easy.

Re: Mangoletsi
Picked up the Brera from Mango's last night and have to say they have done an excellent job of sorting out the problems.
Would have been nice to have the problems sorted 1st time but maybe that's the price you pay for not having a run of the mill mundane car.
The forecourt looks much better with the resurfacing and also it wasn't jam packed with used cars, you get the impression that the cars are more upmarket when the forcourt is not stacked to the hilt.
Hopefully I won't be seeing them until the next service.

Re: Mangoletsi
Guys,
You need to invest some time with the fellas at Mangos - they are a good bunch of fellas. Paul and Mark in Service are great guys as are Craig Aspin and Mark Hutchinson in Sales. | |
