Re: Mangoletsi

Well I'm known for saying it like it is, so for me Mango's are the one dealership that I never enter without a clove of garlic and a crucifix around my neck....Why? Quite simply, aggressive and unpleasant sales techniques.

I have to say that the service and spares departments have both been good but I've had issues with both in the past.

As for sales, up until a few years ago I would simply not even deal with them as they always seemed to represent the worst of the industry with a slippery and underhand approach to everything they did. They were always more expensive and always pushing for a deal with constant home phone calls until they were told to **** off.

I have to say that a year or so back I did revue the 159 and was met by a Scottish Gentleman who had recently joined, it was a pleasure to deal with him, however I offered them my 156 for sale at trade price at the end of its lease and was directed to the head of sales. This 'Spiv' 'interogated' me about what deal I was heading into and what dealer was supplying the car but more importantly why I would not allow him to muscle in on the deal. He declined my car as he simply didn't want to deal with me and I left vowing never to set foot in the place again.

I still buy my spares there, but frankly if you want keener deals with infinitely better service let me recommend Platts of Longton (The Stoke Dealer) I have had nothing but excellent service there for seven years with the best prices from them. They hate Mango's with a vengeance and will always beat their deals.

When you phone to get a price and a salesman shouts down the phone "What is it going to take to make you sign up today" (Remember Gordon?) You know you are not dealing with Gentlemen.

Sorry to be negative about the company, I know that this is supposed to be a happy forum but if Mango's want to improve they may as well know the truth about what people think of them.

Spares are good and the service department is reasonable. Sales however?...No way!

Oh, and when are they going to provide some parking?

Re: Mangoletsi

Dave agreed parking at Mango's is dreadfull

As for the new car buying experience I can't comment never bought new from Mango's.

I bought the Cup from them and dealt with Craig Aspen he is a true Alfista and loves the Marque I didn't feel in any way pressurised or ripped off by the deal I got.

You're quite welcome to voice your opinion here and we'd be more than happy to have a fellow Alfista at one of our meets.

I'm glad you found an Alfa dealer you're happy with.

Brera 2.2JTS SV

Re: Mangoletsi

I went to Mango's last year to try and purchase a 1 year old Brera. I have purchased 2 cars from them over the years and the sales people were very good but the people I dealt with at that time have since left.

This time when I went they just messed me about and wouldn't give me a straight cost to change price with NO EXTRAS. They wanted to charge me close on £100 to register the warrenty in my name and also included in the price was satnav and paint protection that I didn't ask for. In the end I walked out and purchased a Brera from a dealer 130miles away who actually wanted to sell me a car.

Lythgoe is a multi-brand franchise still. I bought my Mazda at the Mazda/Nissan/Fiat branch in Bolton. I have to say, their service is not very good - but it is expensive. So I'm not surprised they were in the cull.

I had to change a sidelight bulb yesterday (not a simple task with a Mazda 6 -stupid inaccessible design) so I opened the airbox to squeeze my hand in to the narrow gap and found the air filter looks minging. Now it had a 62k service last month (@ £290) and a 50k service last summer ( @ well >£300 )- I ain't checked the bills or schedule yet but I'd expect an air filter to have been changed in one of those two. It looks like its been there since new.

My point is that it isn't just Alfa main stealers who rip you off.

Oops forgot to update this.

After my big service last year I got my GTA back nice and clean but with number of deep scratches on the boot, roof and bonnet (looked like a jet-wash hose had been dragged over it)
I knew for a fact they where not there when I dropped it off.

Long story short, Mango's paid (approx £250) for a full body polish at my local bodyshop that got rid of most of the damage.

Should never have happened in the first place but well done Mangoletsi for paying up!
Still daylight robbery when it comes to service charges mind.

Re: Mangoletsi

Swanny every time I've had a problem with the Cup it has been sorted under warranty

I got a nice letter off them last week reminding me the Cups up for a service I'll probably go with Mangoes as I genuinely find them very good

Yep. And the parking could be better. Apart from that they've been absolutely spot on for me - from purchase through 3 services and various bits of warranty stuff (including an entire new rooflining to cure a tiny intermittent rattle on a 2 1/2 year old car). Would definitely recommend them. Paul on the service desk and Craig in sales are always v friendly and easy to deal with too

Re: Mangoletsi

Picked up my 159 2 weeks ago - really annoying rattle from dash and the usual windscreen 'creak'. Was passing Mangos yesterday so stopped off. Got a 'technician' [John I think] to sit in with me to identify noise - back to garage, cup of coffee and fixed. Can't ask for much better. Pity it's so far away!

Thumbs Up Re: Mangoletsi

Another thumbs up for Mango's from the GTVJim family.

Went over completely unplanned yesterday after shopping to allow MrsJim a closer look at the GT, Brera and GTV as part of my cunning offensive to get shut of the Picasso and avoid her having a pointless off-road barge and give me something to enjoy at weekends and show up at AO meets without feeling a fraud.

Asked for Craig - only name I've heard on here - but he was off, so got chatting to young Kevan. We were totally upfront about why we were there and I have to say he was brilliant. No pushiness, no hard selling, some very honest comments about pros and cons of certain models. We must have been in there approaching an hour and a half and even though the showroom had a surprisingly high number of potential customers he never once looked or sounded fed up or anxious to get on with a potentially better prospect.

We've arranged to get a test drive of a GT 2.0 JTS in a few weeks (it was persisting down at the time). Whilst we aren't yet decided, the GT has just leapt up from rank outsider to be a joint favourite with MrsJim.

She hates salesmen and makes her mind up about them in the first 10 seconds. She liked Kevan's approach.

She also thinks the GT is very Heavy hints about a 3.2 were dismissed however with wifely authority!

I know that was at Tony but I made sure I dropped the AO name into the conversation too. Kevan knew all about it and said Craig was a regular on it

Re: Mangoletsi

Got the Brera back tonight after 4 days. Hopefully the alarm and windows will be ok now. Unfortunatly not fixed the rocking chair due to the parts not arriving. Disappointed that this will mean a return to be sorted.
While I was there they were busy resurfacing the carpark, they have done a nice job of the showroom.
