Re: Mangoletsi

Really sorry to hear this mate, my opinion of Mango's id founded on first impressions as I've never dealt with them before now and had no reason to.

As I knew I was in the market for a GTA and I'd pretty much be upgrading some bits and having it serviced if needed as soon as I got it I emailed Craig a couple of weeks ago regarding pricing on fitting a Q2 Differential to the car, by last Friday I had no reply so I sent a second email to request pricing, this I have had no response to either.

As luck would have it Craig was at Auto Italia at the weekend and someone pointed him out to me so I asked him how much it would cost, he said around £1300 as the part is fairly cheap but it's a very fiddly job.

Considering the prices other Alfa Specialists charge for the same job you can imagine my response.

As yet I have STILL had no response to my initial enquiries via email.

Maybe they just don't want the work? If that's the case I'd rather be told that than lied to with a spurious cost to price them out of the market.

Anyway, back on track I hope you get a speedy resolution mate.

Re: Mangoletsi

Hunter, What have Alfa UK said about these problems? surely if the car has been recovered 3 times by the AA and Mango's can't sort out a permanent fix then you should be able to reject this car.

Have you considered trading standards and/or solicitor the car is obviously 'not fit for purpose' and Alfa UK should be making every effort to sort this out to your satisfaction.

I understand why you want to call it a day.

Would you consider writing to the press about this bad sequence of experiences?
So we drag the press in and further damage the reputaion of Alfa

Alfa have improved dramatically in the last few years of my ownership and IMO dragging the press in would serve no purpose at all

Tony that's a postive suggestion as it seem's Mango's are doing all they can and it should be upto Alfa UK to sort this out now.

Hunter I know it can't be easy but I'm sure they will between Mango's and Alfa UK get it sorted.

The thread title is Mangoletsi and not Alfa build quality as Hunter has said himself Mango's keep fixing it only for someting else to go wrong they're technicians not fortune tellers

Re: Mangoletsi

Hunter mate very bad news.

Disappointing that Mangos couldn't sort you out an Alfa or a Fiat 500 I was told that if I wanted an Alfa (if my car was in for service) to give 2 weeks notice otherwise they had Fiat 500 available. Mangos have a split fleet of Alfas and Fiats. Fair enough I thought.

AR UK are hearing from you again - 2 159's and both have been substandard for you.

As HM says Mangos are at least trying to fix your motor and as I have posted recently I have been pretty much impressed.

My 159 is there now getting (I hope) some minor issues sorted out and I hope I can report more positives.

I can understand why you would want to leave Alfa now - if it had been me with all these problems I would probably been gone long ago. Your loyalty to the marque has been commendable in th face of such problems. I really hope AR UK can sort something for you and help keep you in an Alfa.

Isn't science fun?!?! Eye think so!

I can only agree with everything that's been said Hunter and I really do hope Alfa sort this out without pfaffing around this time.

Re: Mangoletsi

dpat,

Is your 159 the silver one with the Alfaowner sticker in the back window? Saw it yesterday. I have an '06 159 2.4SW in Titano.

Hunter - sorry to hear the issue. I had the inlet manifold replaced recently following limp home debacle but am now suffering the intermittent stutter at circa 2k rpm....which seems to be helped by Forte or BP Ultimate. The car is in Mangos currently and new Injectors and bits for the EGR valve on order.

The DPF does get hot. I gave the car a blast to clear it recently and stopped at a service station. When I got out, thought the clutch had gone with the smell but I think it was the DPF clearing its throat!!!

Wishing you all the best and hope you get it sorted. Aim your ire at the manufacturer!

I hope ARUK bend over backwards to sort out Hunter. He is exactly the sort of customer they can't afford to lose.

Good luck chap.

Re: Mangoletsi

Both are lovely....Titano suits the SW particularly with the roof bars. As do the 19" Ti wheels!

I hope to get mine back tomorrow - parts dependent - if I see you we can have a chat over some coffee at Mango's expense!

Re: Mangoletsi

Hunter,

I am in a 147 at the moment (which aint half bad). I had the swirl valve/inlet manifold replaced on my 159 2.4 recently and have since reported the "hesitation". The car is with Mangos who are fitting 5 x new injectors and some EGR-related mods but as the car is in its 3rd year of warranty it needs sign off from the local Alfa Technical rep due to the cost. Hopefully, will get it back on Tuesday.

Off to my parents in Bradford (home town) tomorrow and will use the GT. I have "Autoglymed" the GT this evening with Super Resin Polish and Ultra Deep Shine to announce my homecoming to the finest county in all of England!

All the best

Re: Mangoletsi

Got my 159 back Saturday. Everything done which is great except the CD player which I have been reassured by Paul Antrobus, Mark and Gordon will be sorted out for me.

They are applying through Alfa Romeo in Italy who are contacting ARUK who will then hopefully get a new CD player sent out. I certainly hope so

I wonder if they'd be able to help me with a new service history book for my 156, some little bleeders nicked it. Can't go back to the dealership I bought the car from as they are no longer there!!!

Re: Mangoletsi

Not sure if the other dealers records where transfered to Mango's.

I think ARUK would be a better bet

I know in the past that I've had the book updated by different dealerships. ARUK I have a problem with, as soon as they hear the reg of the car they don't want to know. They didn't like it when trading standards got onto them about it

Re: Mangoletsi

No, for my 156 Sportwagon. I bought it from Caledonia in Warrington but of course they're long gone. They were useless, the aftersales was awful, so I don't really miss them.
