Introduction thread

Welcome to the AONW Lounge.

I'm Tony your Region Rep

I've been driving Alfa's for about six years now had a GTV P1 and I'm now the proud owner of a GTV CUP.

A few points before you post just to keep things tidy

Have a bit of banter one or two posts on introduction by all means but this thread is to allow members to Introduce themselves.

My Hope for this lounge is to get AONW to be a family friendly event lounge with meetings that are not just a group of boys standing in a carpark

We have already held our first track day for the petrol heads and the Bluebird day out is our first family day

Any how I hope you can join in feel free to Introduce yourselves

I'm not far over the border - can I play too?

I can't make the Holker Hall run but I'd like to come to future Cumbrian-ish runs

Re: Introduction thread

Hi I'm Andy. HM, Al and Ode are the regular AONW goons who stand in car parks and look at cars. Simes has now decided loyalties are elsewhere.
We've had two "drives" through the countryside in convoy, which were really good.
Just had a good family day out at Halker Hall so as HM (Tony) says come and join us and let's make our meetings more of a family event.

Re: Introduction thread

Well I'll put the usual stuff up but I'm no new poster....

I'm Scott, I'm a gadget fiend, mountain bike racer, runner, part-time polishing fetishist, and I like to thrap my 147 around as many racetracks as my wallet will stand.

I love to stand round in car parks talking about cars with people I've met through an internet forum, and my girlfriend thinks I'm weird because of that.

She's right of course, but not JUST because of that

Re: Introduction thread

Hi all I'm Adam. Bought my First Alfa (GTV TS Lusso) Yesterday. Hoping that I got an ok car, that won't need maintaining too much (there is a small amount of white scum under the oil filler cap - serious?).

I am from a little town called Ormskirk, were I live with my beautiful wife and 2 cats.

Thank you, and goodnight

Re: Introduction thread

Welcome to AONW.

Where abouts in Ormskirk are you Adam

The father in Law lives on Red gate near St Bede's school

The white scum is a bit worrying it could be a blown head gasket is it like mayonaise ?

I've got two cats and a wife as well

Re: Introduction thread

Thanks for the welcome. We lived around the corner from St Bedes last year. Earlier this year we moved here though. We live in Burscough, just a little bit further down the A59. On the canal, very picturesque. You worry me with the head gasket talk. I bought the car from Blackburn Motor Village (do you know their rep?) I noticed the white stuff, it's a little bit like mayonaise (not much of it). I haven't taken delivery yet as their fixing a few things (battery, drivers side electric window, bodywork a little). If it was a blown head gasket would it still drive fine? I took it for quite a lengthy drive you see. The only other thing I didn't like was that it was warmed up before I got there (they put it down to battery difficulties before I arrived). What other symptoms of a blown head gasket would there be.

Please reply, I'm crapping myself.

Adam

PS My missus is gutted we missed out on the lights!!! (bLACKPOOL):xmas:

Re: Introduction thread

Sorry Adam didn't mean to give you a scare

If there's no loss of power and it's running OK I doubt it's a head gasket it's not a common fault on the ts engine but white goo is a classic symptom. Don't worry If it's a dealer selling I'm sure it's a goodun

I work in Blackburn don't know that dealer but I don't really know any where in Blackburn other than work

The battery fault is a common one Alfa's hate sitting on forecourts
So is the drivers window best sorted before you take delivery of your bella

Shame you missed the lights doo it was a goodun but we'll be having plenty more meets next year

What colour is it and is it a p1 ro p2

Thats a little bit reassuring! It's coming with a three month warranty so if it is screwed hopefully they'll have to sort it. It's bright red with spoiler. I think it's phase 2 as it's y reg - am i right. All i know is some moron stuck a ralliart badge (yep the mitsubishi type) on the boot after removing the engine on the right hand side. Got the dealer to remove that also. Fingers crossed! A
