AONW SAD Convoy

Any Ideas for the best route / Meeting point.

I've had a look at the map and this one has me a bit stumped

So where should we meet

Assuming I go, I'll be going via Buxton, then probably Chesterfield. Some cracking driving roads. Dunno how suitable for a convoy though. They just happen to be the handiest way from Congleton.

Re: AONW SAD Convoy

Might be an Idea to pick up at Knutsford services and meet you in Congleton

Re: AONW SAD Convoy

Maybe so

If you're meeting at Knutsford, you can go off the motorway there, and get to Buxton via Macclesfield.
Basically all the roads to Buxton are lovely roads - supposedly the most dangerous in Britain though, so have someone reasonably sensible leading the convoy!

Unless you wanna meet somewhewre round the M60 and do Snake Pass (A57)? Or maybe the A628 which brings you onto the M1 just north of Sheffield (the A57 goes pretty much straight through the city so could mean traffic etc...)

Looks like I might be coming actually

Yeah, the problem with the Buxton route is that it gets pretty rural. Having looked at it for a bit, I still can't decide the best way to go once you reach Bakewell.

Re: AONW SAD Convoy

i think any of the routes should be OK traffic-wise tbh, although sheffield being a big place will naturally be 30mph and traffic lights aplenty. all the routes over the peak district are belters, spoilt for choice really. my pick for scenery etc will be snake pass, although i don't really know the ones further south (cat & fiddle etc)

Cat & Fiddle scenery is excellent. There's even these handy bike sized holes at regular intervals in the hedges for you to look through...
Unfortunately the banger racing isn't on in Buxton this week, so you won't be able to see the Pikeys taking their cars up there.
