Snart wheel repairs..
..in Manchester. Smart Wheels
These guys. Anyone used them, if so are they any good. Want all 4 wheels (18" horseshoes) refurbing.
They quoted me £150 which is a very good price. I'm just concerned that for that price the standard of work may not be the best.

Is the £150 for all wheels?
What effect have you gone for?
If thats for all four, and the work is good, could be tempted myself!
Can you do a before/after pic of your wheels for us too?
Btw..as your a fellow Cheshirite you should come along to our Trafford Centre meet tonight!

hmmm... mobile number (no landline), and the address as far as i know is a residential one (i lived at number 304 as a student for a short time, absolute sh.ithole). sounds like he works out of a van?
EDIT: scratch that, i seem to remember there were a few industrial units down there, maybe he's in one of those

Don't think he works out of a van. They do offer a mobile service but only for repairs, not refurbs. The website mentions heating the paint and using infra red heat to cure the laqueur. Thats not something you would do out of van.
I'm still a little hesitant about the price. They do give a 12 month guarantee though.

That's exactly how you'd cure a smart repair with infa red. It does sound very much a paint the rim face operation which whilst looks good to start will not stand up to any abuse and will dull very quickly. IMHO I'd go a little extra and get them powder coated, awesome and at least 10 times harder than standard paint.
