Cloverleaf Club Oulton Park Track Day Offer - July 15th
Ladies & Gents,
This is NOT a race just simply a lovely day out for Alfa owners in the sun with other Alfa Romeo owners where you get chance to stretch the legs on your Alfa Romeo at your own pace.
This is a full supervisory day with instructors and one to remember for just £49.00 including breakfast and buffet lunch.
The venue in my view is the best track in the country.
As you can imagine places are limited so please confirm back asap via email if you wish to attend !

i'd love to do this but we go to france 3 days after that, and unfortunately all my spare pennies are having to go in the holiday fund. i'll have to see how business goes over the next month but by then i'm sure it'll be fully booked

I am tempted but 2 things concerned me:
All Guests will be driving their own Alfa Romeo cars on the circuit for the duration of this event. Please note that standard car road insurance is not valid on the circuit and guests are responsible for sourcing suitable and valid vehicle and personal insurance for the event. Alfa Romeo UK can not be responsible for any damage to the Guest’s vehicles or personal injury whilst taking part on the track day.
The quote I got for track day insurance was £135.00 with £1450 excess!
Only road legal non-modified Alfa Romeo road cars are allowed to take part on the event.
and my car has a minor mod so would it be ruled out?

I don't think insurance is compulsory; they are simple saying damage and injury are not their responsibility.
I am happy to be corrected on this though.

Eventually got booked in, that Cloverleaf website really doesn't like the SeaMonkey browser
Anyway, see you there, boys and girls! Another outing for the Alfa-cam methinks...

I reckon you'll be alright with them Gaz, it's probably things like stripped-out trackday specials they're trying to stop.
Just guessing like

Modifications pretty much rules out most GTAs and most stuff Mangoletsi sells.. If minor mods are going to be allowed, where is the line drawn? Would an Autodelta supercharger be allowed? Or a 3.8? I can't see them turning people away on the day - would be an absolute PR nightmare on here.

With insurance its not just damage to your pride and joy you have to consider its the damage to another driver if you are unfortunate to have a coming together, so if you were at fault and someone else was left permanently disabled I presume your insurance would cover this eventuality. I am not 100% sure but those are my thoughts.
Does anyone know if insurance is compulsory and is it for 3rd party cover?

If you go at your own risk - i.e. without specialist trackday/competition insurance - you obviously have the measured risk of damage to your bella but does anyone know if the (presumably inevitable) disclaimer at sign on is an acceptance by you and others that if you or they get pranged or injured there is no liability? Like the motorsport disclaimers on entering a rally stage.
What's the score?

I don't think anyone has any liability for anything - its a motorsport environment and you enter at your own risk. So if someone bumps your car its hard luck. Thats why the marshalls will black flag you and throw you off if you are being silly and trying to go sideways.

That's what I thought would be the case. It kind of makes a case for not spending silly money on track day insurance since no third party is expected to be covered. Of course you take a risk with your car.

im booked up but i wont be paying for insurance its very very expensive and my car is worth less than f00k all anyway, i'd be upset about hurting someone elses baby but not to the point of paying a couple of hundred quid on a gamble that i do,when i will do everything possible not to, i'll only push it if im going into a corner on my own

I think i'm going to this trackday, always wanted to test the limits of my mito and this seems like an extremely good price (£49).
What is the "off-circuit mito dynamics" thing they talk about?
It's a fairly long drive for me, it will take at least 2.5 hours each way, but should be worth it.
P.S. i've just realised the terms and conditions say guests involved in driving must be over 21 years of age. It's not clear whether this means everyone at the track (including cloverleaf members) or just guests you bring along.
Being under this age, I can understand they wouldn't want the average kid trying to drive fast around a race track as it is "recipe for disaster". I'm not saying i'm a brilliant driver but I have previous track and rallying experience so I know how to control a car, more or less. Guess I'll have to call up to make them clarify whether everyone at the track has to be over 21 or not.

Turns out this is round the corner from the inlaws! Have just emailed Benfields, am very much up for this!!! Now I assume I'll wear out the brake pads? They have had 20K miles of very light wear so far (I'm very gentle on the brakes during road driving (except when in Wales )).
