Lakes/South Cumbria Meet?

Just a passing thought.

Just wondered if there is ever a meet in the Lakes/South Cumbria?

Is there enough people on here from around this area to have one or would it be a slog to Manchester etc?

Cheers

we'll definitely be doing a south lakes meet again - probably late spring/early summer so we can do it before the school holidays. any ideas/suggestions for a location?

I did the Kirkstone Pass last weekend, top road, but a bit of snow around so had to be careful over the top.
We've done this before but still worthy of a trip.

Driving from the A66 down to Ullswater, then over Kirkstone pass is an amazing drive, should totally meet up and do that.

Technically that's a north and south Lakes meet though.

Yeah Kirkstone Pass would be good, Lyth Valley's road is also a good route up towards Bowness. The Brown Horse Pub is also on that route too! Late spring would be good for me.

The Brown Horse is one of the few real Pubs left in the lakes.

Shap (The A6 north out of Kendal up into the fells) is a good road too, big, wide, sweeping, fast, up-hill road.

Yeah good shout.

Could start in Kendal, run up to Shap and a quick run North on the M6, come off at Penrith and back over the Kirkstone Pass, Bowness - Lythe Valley. There's a pub at Bowland Bridge or the Strckland Arms at Sizergh near Bretter Hault Roundabout, handy for the M6?

But that's more like a tour of Cumbria I guess

Now this sounds really good fun, especially if we can find relatively traffic free roads before the 'people carrier brigade' hit the roads. Better get my clutch fixed as it slips a bit when booted hard, and to keep up with you lot it needs to be booted hard. More expense doh

That's a long route, probably 5 hours driving in it.

The part of that route you didn't mention, from the A66 to Kirkstone pass, which is a twisty down-hill run towards Ullswater. You could believe you're in the swiss alps driving that section in the summer, it really is stunning.

Ok, it seem's like we have quite a few interested. If we are going to do something when would be best for everyone? I'll usually be free at weekends or Friday afternoons from the start of April up until June...

I've been to Holker Hall a few times - it was good - so I've every confidence that this new bit will be as well.

We know the guy who owns the one at Keswick - the Cars the Star and the 007 Museum. He's got plenty of stuff but is dead limited for space.

Avoid the weekend of 10/11 April (our first race meet of the season) and I could be up for it. Kirkstone Pass Inn was our usual lunchtime halt with the 155.org Keswick weekend trips......

You know what I'm like with shows once they start but in April all I'm tied to just now is Drive It Day (25th) - May is a nightmare
