Chester Zoo & Then What?
I've got the last two weeks in August off work. I'm thinking about taking my daughter (10) to Chester zoo but it's a bit far to go there and back in day, so, I was wondering what we could do the next day if we stayed in the area overnight.

As long as animal overload isn't an issue, Knowsley Safari Park is excellent, and they have a route which skips the monkey enclosure.

Alton Towers isnt far away, you could go there the first day, find accommodation somewhere in between, then go to Chester zoo for a day before going back up the road.
We did this the other week and got a great deal on lastminute.com for 2 day Alton Towers tickets and a nights 4* hotel stay for 2 adults and a child was £170. Chester zoo was also a cracking day out, plenty to see and do. Check out the batcave if your not a big wuss like me

I'd rather go to work than go to Blackpool.

+1
As above knowsley is great, but its more of the same, cheshire oaks is an outlet village, keep mrs r happy, blue planet is excellent too, suggest an easy day 'cos chester zoo is v. hard work.
Or what about a blast up the A55 into Wales (watch cameras) loads to do then (and a couple of dead good tunnels!) or nip down to Bettws y coed, then on to Beddgelert, brilliant roads and scenery from there across to Portmeirion, or upto Blackrock sands for a drive on the beach?

I wasn't hinting.
There's a Premier Inn near the zoo for £68 a night.

can't go wrong with premier inns - we stayed at one in glasgow city centre last year and it was superb, better than plenty of 4* hotels i've stayed at

I might just go for that then, it's only half a mile from the zoo.
I'll try to pop in for a brew while I'm down your way.
