Cloverleaf Day - Oulton Park - 11/09/08

Hope you don't mind me invading your local lounge but there isn't a lounge for Switzerland.

Hoping to head over for this event and the afternoon session - is anyone else going and does anyone know if it's on the full circuit ?

Final question - anyone know if any of the car hire places at Liverpool Airport have Alfas - need to do a quick UK tour afterwards but haven't time to bring Bella back with me.

It's the full Circuit according to the Cloverleaf site

I doubt Avis at JLA do Alfa's unless you do a special request

Ah well - taken pot luck with the hire cars at JLA then.

Anyone in the area recommend comfortable accomodation for the night of 10th - particularly around Cheshire Oaks area so I can do some british shopping.

Had to pass up the FOC invite from ARUK for this event - really wanted to go...

Would have been to meet up K3 and have a blast around in someone else's car

Ive requested a place next season on the nearest available run out

Cheers Hunter - it's the only one I can make this year as ARUK couldn't pull their proverbial fingers out and publish the dates before I organised my jaunt abroad - needless to say they got an interesting response when they rang me the day before one of the early Brands events trying to flog the spare places.

Looking forward to the circuit and the chance to see what the range will do rather than attempting it on the mountain roads.

Oulton is a top notch circuit .. you will enjoy..

I spend my weekends marshaling there.

Cascades is always fun, then up lakeside (fastest part of track) - if your on the full circuit check out our mini carousel - Shell Oils.. oh and watch out for druids it's a lovely double apex bend, then old hall/deerleep brings you round to the start.

If it's wet please treat the track with care - even more so if it's damp..

If the weathers good it's one of the nicest places in the world to drive.

Hmm, had no idea Oulton was so close, might pop along to an open pit day sometime. Tony, how about organising an event?

Re: Cloverleaf Day - Oulton Park - 11/09/08

Open Pit on the 24th October a bit steep at £175 but it is the full day

They also have a half day @ £119 on the 21st

I wouldn't bother taking the gt out as it's not getting mapped till just before chrimbo that's what I'm getting as a prezzie off Mrs H.

But I'd gladly attend and blag a ride if any one will have me

Re: Cloverleaf Day - Oulton Park - 11/09/08

Went to the trackday today, first time I've ever done a trackday, have to say I had a great time, only 29 people at the morning session that can handle 75 so plenty of driving.
Good show by Alfa, was hoping to try a Brera S but they didn't have any with them today, but a good session all the same.

Just got back, brilliant event the long circuit is fantastic, the instructors were superb and the whole thing was just spot on.

I did Croft last year but for what ever reason I found Oulton so much better. Top car of the day???...
147 Q2, absolutely cracking little thing on a track, couldn't beleive the speed it could carry through the double Apex corner at the top,, Druids?

Have to agree, the 147Q2 felt very nimble and light, I tried the 159 3.2 4WD, first time I've driven a 3.2 and to me it didn't feel lively, felt very remote but made a nice noise.

I know I'm probably biased (owning a 2.2 Brera) but I much prefered the Brera 2.2's to the 2.4, the 2.4 was probably a bit quicker but to me not as involving to drive due to not having to change gear as much and less engine noise.

Re: Cloverleaf Day - Oulton Park - 11/09/08

The 2.2 is a sweet little unit, but I felt they just got so bogged down dragging out of the chicane.
I didn't have an issue with the gears on any of the diesels, you only need two anyway, though it's nice to be able to hold onto the gears a bit longer with the Petrols.
It's a shame they didn't have a Brera S to play with.

The 3.2 whilst sounding great and going quite well didn't feel quite as good as the 2.4 Ti's, I think the suspension on the Ti's must suit track work better.

Just managed to drag myself up after a 5hr slog back down the M6 in a hire car last night. Brilliant day out, thoroughly recommendable bu
