OK playmates... as you will know HM has fiddled his tax return again and is jetting off to the tropics with the money he's swindled, so in his absence he's been kind (foolish? ) enough to put me in charge for a couple of weeks...

And it's about time we had a meet n'est ce pas?

New location this time (fine suggestion, Simes ) - the Blundell Arms in Horwich, near Bolton - Chorley Old Road, Horwich BL6 6PY

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?source...num=1&ct=title

the above is a map linky, dunno how to get it to show up as 'map link' though, HM care to edit it for me???

Really nice pub, good food, plenty of parking, amazing views on a clear day over manchester, cheshire and out to southport, and of course some cracking driving roads up on the west pennine moors all within a couple of minutes' drive

So who's coming then?

meet up at the pub, have a nosey at everybody's cars then grab a bit to eat and a bit of banter, then have a bit of a drive on some of the west pennines' finest roads

Re: AONW May monthly meet

if i may be so bold as to make a suggestion, upon leaving the pub we
go left and 1st real left (walker fold rd), beware the R/H dipping
bend, next up fast left kink, long bumpy strait into a tight L/H
downhill blind bend. only a mile to belmont village then, theres a
cracking road back over the tops to rivington.
(mite be bit much for cumbersome 3.0GTV'S and 156's)
just a starting idea?

Re: AONW May monthly meet

That sounds like a good route.

It brings us Bury/Totty types back towards the right end of Bolton too for heading home.

Yes and one of the reasons I suggested that pub in the first place - it's my test drive corner on walker fold road - put a car though it's paces there completly unsettles a poor car... my GTA used to bottom out there al the time.

it's some good roads up there and only 10 minutes from Simes Mansions!

plenty of photo shots on the rivington road as well... the bikers will be out in force at the barns though if the weathers nice...

I'll be there in pork ;-)

Simes.

Re: AONW May monthly meet

Dunno if this is the right place for run suggestions but someone mentioned another multi region meeting on another thread (no idea where, I had been sampling beer) but what about a Hadrians Wall run? Could meet up with the Kilt wearers on the A66 then meet the Geordies and Yorks somewhere along the A66 in the middle?
Only reason I thought is that it is sort of central for both sides and loads of cracking roads up there?

Re: AONW May monthly meet

looks like we're gonna have a cracking turnout lads & lasses, i'd better book a big table at the pub

wscwunda & simes - that driving route sounds like a corker, i know a few of the roads up there but if one of you two fancies leading the convoy it would be good. actually simes can't lead the convoy, he'd only slow us all down
