My beloved GTV sold today ):

My first ever alfa drove off into the sunset today with a new owner!
P reg GTV 79K on the clock sold on ebay for just over £1000.
The winning bidder picked her up today............ a 17 year old lad
His dad brought him round, he took it for a spin and loved it! Really nice lad, with a sensible head on him. When I was 17 I was driving a push bike!!!!
I asked him about his insurance for the car, and he is going on his dads insurance.
He was I bit like me when I bought her, fell in love with the look and feel of the car, and wasn't too bothered about the mechanics of it!
Good luck to him anyway, I hope he enjoys driving it. Told him he will pull some birds driving that in the summer!

First GTV I had, had it 24 hours, and heater matrix needed replacing.
This one, had two weeks, and the dreaded handbrake warning light is flickering on and off! Clutch seems a bit loose
Need to check out the MAF, as is has it's "flat spots" when winding up.
Still love it though!

My mate has bought an MR2, and I wouldn't swap it for my GTV - even though those Japs know how to build an engine!

Re: My beloved GTV sold today ):

Flickering handbrake light is probably due to wear sensor on a brake pad or the connection to the handbrake under the gaiter. I had this on my 156 JTD, taking off the gaiter and reconnecting the sensor cleared it up, only took 5 minutes.

I have a feeling it is the clutch slave cylinder, been having to top up the fluid.
Question is - can I replace myself, or get Alfatech to do it?
If I did decide to DIY, do I have to bleed the system?

Yep, im at uni! its laughable the amount of corsas, fiestas you see in the car park, with HUGE exhausts and induction kits. I smile inwardly knowing that my alfa propably cost me less then their cars and is such an enjoyable drive, oh and it looks so good in the car park!

It could be.. Isn't the slave cylinder inside the gearbox on a 2.0 though? I might be wrong..

Re: My beloved GTV sold today ):

Yes the P1 had it done only last month!
Was thinking of having a crack myself to try and save money! But if Master Clutch can do it for 80 dabs, I'll go there!
PS, where is Master Clutch??
