I went just after it opened (about 8 years ago and I thyink they were still building it even though it was open to the public
) and it was distinctly average, I think it had been built without really knowing what they were going to use it for.
Been a couple of times since and it has got better, it's prime pull is that they have managed to fit an IMAX cinema UNDERGROUND, most of the complex is below earth with bits sprouting out of the hillside into ornamental gardens and such.
Bonuses are that it couldn't be easier to find and the venue is situated in an area of 'natural beauty' right on the edge of the outlying fells of the lake district.
People coming from the south could potentially forgo the more direct route up the motorway and instead head into Windermere and take a route over the Kirkstone Pass along Ullswater and through Pooley Bridge to get there.
It is a modern and well designed venue with good facilities and a chintzy tourist shop.
I take it someone has contacted the group bookings folk to let them know we are coming as I'm sure the cafe can be booked and catered for?
