The event will last 2 1/2 hours and will be timed and points given for every session jusy like an F1 event

Re: AONW Grand Prix

well. . . . i was a bit disapointed with the circuit tbh and the fact i was made to feel like the new boy at school

i came 6th overall (if only i'd of came 3rd in the first race) with 42points. what baffled me is that i won my heat in the semi's and yet didn't go through to the final

anyway whoevers that gtv cup is, me likey alot

forgot to mention the old bill nearly got me for speeding on the m56 on the way home, BUT because i know the law and they couldn't show me how fast i was going (actual or average) i got away with it. the old 'i'll see you in court' trick worked a treat. the silly billy thought i'd just admit to how fast i was going LOL

Sorry to hear you felt that way mate, which one were you? We did try to put as many forum names to Real names on the leader board sheet on the table so we knew who was who.

You shoulda come and joined the crowd, there were others who haven't been to an AO meet before and they just joined in with the banter.

You get out, what you put in so they say

Come along to the next meet and get yourself introduced I'm sure you'll have a better time

Re: AONW Grand Prix

Easy Chaps

G5een this was your first meet and It's not easy to join in with the banter.

I'm sorry you didn't get as much out of the event as I would have liked

Like Ghosty said let us know who you are at the next one I'm sure you'll have a better time

BTW the Cup is Mine

Re: AONW Grand Prix

The circuit was a bit old as were the karts, but that didnt stop me from having a good time. After all I did 450 miles to attend

Thank you to everyone for attending, I really enjoyed the banter and met some great people.
A massive thank you to Tony for organising it.

Re: AONW Grand Prix

Thirded

thanks for organising it Tony, my mates & I had a classic night, really enjoyed it..... apart from the incident where that tall chap shunted the two of us out of first & second place in the final (thanks whoever you were if I'd have caught you I would have stuck you straight back in the sodding tyres )

Yeah it would have been nice to have the main arena and the newer karts, but it's the company & the racing that matters, and they were second to none.

Oh, and I feel like I've got a hefty bruise or two coming up....

Completely brilliant. I reckon we should make this an annual thing

Re: AONW Grand Prix

Oh and big congrats to Ghosty for winning the thing. So what if there were some big nerfs going on in the final, everyone dished out as many as they received, I reckon, and you did well to scrape through the carnage.

Well done mate

Re: AONW Grand Prix

A great night, well done Tony. Congratulations again to Sean.

I have to agree with Ian and others about the pretty variable condition of the karts and state of the building but overall everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and have a laugh.

Maybe Daytona next time or the full circuit?

So far I've only been to the Christmas dinner and met Happy, Al, Wainey and Ode. I tried to say hello to as many as possible. I felt at home with everyone really quickly tbh.

G5een - I remember trying to engage you in the chat under the TV monitor after one of your heats but you walked away after confirming you were G5een. I assumed you were either quiet or didn't want to join in. Sorry if you felt left out.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

Under the hood, you and me are the same (Lightning McQueen)

Ti experience: Days -18. Miles -1158. Minor Niggles -0. Major Problems -0. Enjoyment 10/10.

Re: AONW Grand Prix

G5een, i think if you felt left out at all, it was due to the fact that there were a lot on non-AO people there (AO-ers' mates etc) which made it difficult to see who was a new face and who was with a gang of mates. usually on meets it's all AO-ers so it's easy to spot a new face and they will always be made very welcome indeed. come along to another meet sometime and you'll see

Re: AONW Grand Prix

yeah i suppose i should of tried a little harder to join in and meet you all but it's a little difficult when your on your own and everyone is in there own groups. bit of an age barrier aswell

got some pretty nice bruises on my knees and my neck is aching it might just be me but i thought some karts were better than others. the other circuit is a monster though!

one or two of the karts were definitely lemons

and yes, aches & pains time this morning - hands, forearms, neck, shoulders. no bruises though, but i'm not able to bend my head down to have a look so i might be lying

tony originally booked the main circuit but they will only hold your booking once you have 20 people paid so very difficult unless he fancied risking £600 of his own money up front and then having to collect it from everybody else

Re: AONW Grand Prix

Cheers Chaps

This was my first crack at doing an event of this type and I learned a few valuable lessons

You can rest assured it won't be the last

G5een like AL said at our regular AO meets its easy to spot a new face in the crowd

The NW is leading the way with Club events I allways try to do something different

All the AOers that have met and chatted with me know my goal is to make our Region the most family friendly region on AO

All I can say is watch this lounge plenty more on the drawing board it's only February
