Re: Region Rep required

Goerdie Cabbie has a point. It doesn't matter how many reps there are if no one wants to turn up. Strictly speaking you could get away with 1 rep - the rep doesn't have to attend all meetings do they? They could ask for volunteers to helm a meet.

At the end of the day it shouldn't be left to a rep to do meetings, members should take control if there's something they want to do - much like Paintergirl.

Re: Region Rep required

Yeah its not as bad for those of us around the central belt, but some meets can be a bit of a trek for others.

But then what is a good way to split it up......... Fife, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Tayside for example could all be classed as seperate regional areas really but then that could be taking it too far!

It's almost a couple of hours to get to the meeting point for us lowlanders even if it's at Strathclyde.

Quite a few have chipped in there twopence worth and we agree on 1 thing!it is a big area and until now the desire to attend a meet or run has simply not happened,FACT!

So i reserve judgement to see if the appointment of various reps will get the required results
Derek you've made your Feelings about having a Rep quite clear.

However Wales North and South have very Rural areas as does the SW Region and AO has sucessfully organised regular meets in those Regions.

And it's not just a simple solution of throwing Reps at Regions South of the Border there's a bit more to it than that

The Rep's regularly PM members about comming meets and actively promote activities and events in their Region.

I haven't got a magic lurker seeking tool and I some times wish I had but once successfull meets are happening in a Region a lot of lurkers come out of the wood work and attend.

Fair comment and that happens once we have an organised and lively region lounge where memebers are confident enough to post event threads and have the backing of a Rep even if they are unable to attend

Re: Region Rep required

HM,"magic lurker seeking tool" now that sounds quite a piece of equipment

My views of the rep situation is all for improvement and i am not adverse to change,i get the impression from your comment that i dont want 1,which of course is not so.

We have not really agreed on much since we have come into contact with each other, which is neither here nor there, but i will have my say!

Bob,i am busy with parts and deliveries this weekend,so thats out 4 me,lad from Montrose coming up to pick up that red leather i was selling, and junior is doing a charity walk up Bennachie sat,due for some nice sunshine so that's a boost, hope a few turn up.

Derek

That's not strictly true. I've been involved in such things on other sites where "noobs" come in and try and attempt meets on thier own backs. TBH it doesn't take a lot of effort to say "I'm gonna be here on this date, who wants to meet up?". This is a mature forum so confidence shouldn't really come into it, if a meet doesn't happen, it doesn't happen...however the next one might pay off.

No one has anything to lose sticking their proverbial toe into the water.

Re: Region Rep required

I'm up for meets...but I find myself in no-man's-land to a certain extent. I can do south-north-Scotland or north-south-Scotland. Some may call it central-Scotland I guess...albeit not Falkirk

Re: Region Rep required

K10RTC I am busy today but I have to head down to laurenckirk tomorrow (sunday) morning so I will be down your way if you still fancy a run out early in the afternoon. I will be incommunicado for the next few hours but will check back later.
Any other takers?

Thinking about getting some monthly meet locations that we can alternate, for memebers to attend at maybe one location but not the others.......like me your in a good fairly central location!

Re: Region Rep required

I thought that increasing the number of reps to cover smaller areas might encourage people, who would not usually turn up because of large distances, to come along.

If the meets have a theme or something a little different each time, any idea's to do something a little original, no matter how small they may be, can only be a good thing.

Of course bringing a nice 'pub' into the equation is always going to help things along a bit..

Re: Region Rep required

Hi all,

Not realy a day today for a run anywhere but i went out anyway, it was fair when i left the house, had a run from Montrose to Laurencekirk via the Garvock hill then up to Stonehaven back down to Bervie for tea at the Bervie chipper. Rain turned heavy so headed home. Never even seen another Alfa anywhere.
